Lara Dutta's next release would be a film called GHATAK - THE DESTROYER.
Well, no reasons to cheer here since it is not a new film or a sequel to Sunny Deol starrer GHATAK that came years back. Instead it is the dubbed version of a film made down South named ARASATCHI that had arrived way back in 2004.
Even then it had arrived late as it was stuck in the cans for some time before it had hit the marquee. An action drama, the film stars Arjun as the lead hero and has Raghuvaran and Charanraaj in negative roles.
With music by REHNNA HAI TERRE DIL MEIN fame Harris Jayraj, the film is produced by Imran Qureshi with Maharajan N at the helm of direction. Incidentally Maharajan has a HIT Hindi film INDIAN [starring: Sunny Deol, Shilpa Shetty] to his credit which had come immediately after the roraing success of GADAR - EK PREM KATHA.
As per the makers of the film, GHATAK is a social awareness family entertainment film. Questioning the social setting, the film is said to arrive with a message while still staying on within commercial parameters. Even though the film challenges the system and belongs to the action genre, GHATAK has nothing to do with politics and comes across as clean entertainment without gruesome violence or gore.
In the film Arjun plays a common man who fights for the right. He is a normal human being with raw emotions without resorting to be a superhero. The situations in the film are such that he has to take law in his own hands.
As per reports, Lara Dutta took on the film since she could empathise with the subject. Also she was bowled over by the script and instantly decided that this was the kind of film she wanted to do.
