Till Oscar race is there, she will promote it , after that she may not.

Actually she has other movies so she can afford to move on fast.

Anyways, it is a supporting role... although not the only female one... btw, I wonder what Scorsese r e a l l y thinks about the way the director made this movie in comparison to the one he had loved so much (Masaan, 10 years ago)...

bold: Not right.

Any threatrical release is subject to box office analysis. If it was only made for festivals, it would not aim for a threatrical. Appreciation does not fill pockets. Producers and distributors need money. Eventually movie making is a money making business. Why should we not talk about how less it is making just because it is a niche movie or made for festivals? And janhvi being a prominent star, which she claims, cannot even open a movie at 1cr on her own whether it is homebound, ulajh, milli ..all opening below 40 lacs..says a lot about her standing which is quite a contrast to the number of films she is constantly being offered..at least Alia proved it with talent and numbers when the same was happening to her in 2014-2018 period

Personally, I wouldn't put Alia in the picture... I still maintain that the casting of Janhvi was imposed on the director ... and the private appreciation of Scorsese for the director was hijacked by Karan/Dharma.

Interested in the movie but being sad of the usurping by a declining Dharma.

Yes this isn't janhvi's movie because it flopped..but Devara was janhvi's movie with hardly 10 min of role because it emerged a success?

I’m not denying her privilege. But that’s irrelevant in this argument. No one expected this movie to be a hit, it’s a movie made for critics’ and festivals and awards. It could have had anyone else besides Janhvi and it still would have had the same outcome.

I don’t think Devara is her movie either. But yea she and her PR can enjoy its success the same way that she’s enjoying going abroad to different prestigious film festivals because of Homebound. That’s PR. Everyone does it. Some much much worse than her.

Sometimes you can. That’s the reality of the industry.

Funny enough, that’ll probably end up being the most prestigious film in her filmography.

Any healthy film industry needs both, the popular formula stuff and the more artsy, challenging ones. That’s the balance. Anyone who genuinely loves cinema and thinks beyond just box office numbers craves films like these. You’re not really the target audience for it anyway. Directors like Neeraj know exactly who they’re making movies for. A hundred crores and quick hype isn’t the goal, they’d rather be remembered and written about long after the big money spinners are forgotten.
