This is interesting.. sadly delivery is later than required. But will keep in mind for next time
Rainbow Rowell books are a great choice if you are looking for 'safe' books. There are elements of romance, but it is very PG and safe.
'Turtles all the Way Down' is a good pick in John Green books. Its about a teenage girl with OCD and her best friend trying to solve the mystery of a missing millionaire.
Wrinkle in Time and the entire Little House on the Prairie series are for younger audiences but beloved by many teenage and adult readers—very safe books.
Another younger audience book I cannot get enough of reading is 'Heidi.' I'm always transported to the Alps reading it and pretend I have a simple life living in the mountains with goats.
The Time Machine by H G Wells,
Shakespeare's works (As You Like It, Twelfth Knight, The Merchant of Venice...) ,
Nancy Drew? (Or other such investigative stuff)
Depends on your teenager's taste and reading level.
The Count of Monte Cristo - Alexander Dumas. Classic tale of a young sailor who was falsely imprisoned, escapes assumes a new identity and takes revenge.
Reilly's Luck - Valentine Durrent's greatest enemy is his Mommy dear who abandoned him on a snowy night. He's rescued by a gentleman gambler Will Reilly. The final showdown is between a grown up Val who has to deal with the goons Mommy sent to kill him.
The Thief - Megan Whalen Turner. Eugenides, the queen’s thief, can steal anything—or so he says. When his boasting lands him in prison and the king’s magus invites him on a quest to steal a legendary object, he’s in no position to refuse. The magus thinks he has the right tool for the job, but Gen has plans of his own.
A Countess Below Stairs - Eva Ibbotson. After the Russian revolution turns her world topsy-turvy, Anna, a young Russian Countess, has no choice but to flee to England. Penniless, Anna hides her aristocratic background and takes a job as servant in the household of the esteemed Westerholme family.
Knight's Ransom, The Queen's Poisoner- Jeff Wheeler
Savvy -Ingrid Law
