First of all ask your politicians why they changed the Independence Day from 15th to 14TH.

Because freedom happened at midnight for both countries. End of 14th or beginning of 15th, depending on how you look at it.

No they changed it in 1951 apparently. I was told about this by my Pakistani friends.

Happy Independence Day to Pakistan! Some of the best people I have met on this forum are of Pakistani origin. Nothing but love from me ❤️

Mountbatten did the oath with Jinnah in Pakistan on the 14th before traveling to a india to do the oath at midnight.

IIRC, Jinnah said 14th was independence day on his first address.

The Indian Independence Act passed by British parliament was the one which said 15th for both countries.

But Pakistan is correct in calling 14th its independence day because they did get independence first because of Mountbatten's travel schedule.
