Talaash: ahead of its time!

Talash (2012) is one of those few movies which makes you think. Re-watched it and it gave me goosebumps. It seems like a movie where there are lots more to it than meets the eye.

Aamir, Rani, and Kareena are all brilliant, especially Rani. Nawazuddin Siddiqui in a short role kills it! I loved how the supernatural theme is woven into the fabric of the movie.

The music is atmospheric and the cinematography is excellent.

Do you think the movie would have been a hit if it released today?

PS - I didn't understand the ending, can someone explain it? Kareena was a ghost, right?

It stays with you..

The movie is so underrated and primarily coz many just couldn't understand it or gel well with the supernatural twist

I loved kareena in it and rosy was such an exciting, mysterious role..she mostly is saying things through her eyes..her words never openly expressing what she really is..it hits you hard..the scene where she comes infront of the car..it was magical esp if you watch it on the big screen

To answer your Q..hit and today? The movie was a semi hit in 2012..opened at 15cr and lifetime 90..had it released today..it would have been an outright disaster..opening below 10 and lifetime below 40..may be it would have gotten the hit tag had it released in 2018/2019 but in current times..no chance..straight disaster..audiences don't want this on Big screen anymore..it is back to nach gana..dhumke shumke..item songs..larger than life action cinema or horror comedies at best..

But i am glad there are other who like this movie..no cameos by superstars..no songs for the heck of it..even muskanein jhoti hain was not used in the movie not even end credits..just pure magic of cinema

my fav song is the one at the end credit..lakh duniya kahay..have you listened to that gem minty? It shakes you esp when it comes at the end of the movie..just beautiful!!

I liked the movie a lot & yes she most definitely was a ghost. My hypothesis is that she was murdered by a client & seeks out Aamir to help him & she also saw & recognised his pain on losing his child.

Not murdered but they show she was left to die after they got into an accident. Or else they would have been arrested for engaging in prostitution. She seeks out Aamir because her revenge is linked to his current case. Also she trusts him as a person.

Yes that and also the accident aamir is investigating at the first place was due to her..they could not make sense how armaan kapoor's car would just crash in the sea while making a sharp turn to the left when it was an empty road..but once he experiences that himself..it all made sense..simran was out to seek her revenge and she also found solace in suri..like it was said..spirits move close to those people who are in pain..she found suri..found solace in him and also ended up providing him the same

The film is Class

Yup the film was amazing! And Kareena was a ghost, she was so good in this movie!

It didn’t fail I’d say it was a moderate success
