Studies have shown that:

Women are the first to want marriage

And the first to want divorce 🤣

Because it was women mostly who were adjusting n sacrificing. Now they have stopped taking shit from husband n in-laws.. Financial independence of women plays a major role in this change.

100% this.

Yet every time I mention this to a lot of people when arguing about why divorce rate in west used to be higher as compared to India, they deny it and tell me I don’t know enough about values and culture of India. Sigh.

Just happy to see there are more rational people around, just not around me 😂

Ross was also thrice divorced. Multiple divorces are indeed a red flag. But you have to see where the person is in life. Divorce can be a very healthy and positive choice for everyone involved when done for the right reasons.

Interestingly, the US divorce rate has been dropping rapidly. https://www.weforum.org/agenda/2018/10/divorce-united-states-dropping-because-millennials/

In the 80s, by the time people were 25, they were married and had a kid. The media age to marry is 28 for women and 30 for men. The age of having the first child is 31.

The key to a happy lasting marriage is 1) knowing who you are and what you want in life 2) knowing what kind of relationships you want in your life 3) knowing what you are willing to sacrifice and invest to make your relationships work. Considering that the brain doesn't mature till 25 and people develop their personalities till their late 20s - most marriages before the age of 25 will either end in divorce or be miserable because people didn't get a chance to figure their life out before marriage.

Once Indians give their youth the freedom to date and take time to figure out what sort of life and relationships they want - India too will start seeing declining divorce rates.

Yep also parents attitude too have changed a lot.

Parents these days r quite supportive of their daughter's decisions n also call out men's mistake.

These days parents n siblings have became quite acceptable to dating but living relationships r still big NOWAY...

Even many ppl here after getting married after long dating period realises that their boyfriend n husband r two different ppl.

In west concept of family interference n adjustment with in laws is not there but here in both love n arrange marriage women r expected to adjust with in laws.

Today our daughters are raised to be financially independent and be the primary earners. But sadly most Indian boys are still not trained to work at home, learn life skills or share responsibilities with their wives. This direct contrast has only contributed to divorces. It's time, this changes, and sons are equally prepared for their new roles

I'd like to think only the people who want to be married are getting married. Therefore divorce rates are low.

I mean, back in the day, marriage was the major option for financial security for women. Then it changed, and divorce rates went up. Afterward, women figured out they simply didn't need to unless they were absolutely sure.

It’s not about working at home, women are still willing to do that but it’s their and their parents’ urge to be on a power trip which becomes unbearable. I see that the current new parents are bringing up their children without any discrimination devoid of all the subtle brainwashing which used to happen until a decade ago. Let’s hope for the things to get better in the future.
