By HR I meant Himesh Reshammiya and not Hrithik Roshan, and I'm talking about his songs as a singer.
Recently I watched Bhediya and in the movie, they made fun of Himesh Reshammiya. Watch the movie to know how.😆
Himesh Reshammiya was at the top of music industry from 2005-2007. All his songs were chartbusters. His music album Aap Ka Surroor is the highest sold album in India and second highest sold album in the world. That technically makes him the most popular singer of all time in India. Although many people would disagree that most popular singer of all time are Lata Mangeshkar and Mohammad Rafi.
Today he's seen hosting singing shows and recently the teaser/trailer/date announcement? of his new movie came out which was badly trolled. Many think the acting bug of Himesh led to his downfall and tainted his legacy. But it looks like even his songs haven't aged well.
When talking about yesteryear singers since 90s, we remember Kumar Sanu, Udit Narayan, Alka Yagnik, Sonu Nigam etc. Its also true that his peak was for very short amount of time, and his songs are not considered great pieces of art. For me, I don't Iike his every song, but I really like some of them. It could be because of nostalgia or because I genuinely found the songs good. I can't tell.
But I feel hesitant in showing my likeness of Himesh's songs in front of my friends or family, making his songs my gulity pleasure. Because i feel Himesh's songs haven't aged well for the majority of people. Also his image has taken a hit and he has became kind of a joke since he had wanted to become a lead actor.
I'm into old songs of other singers from 90s and 00s as well, but there I feel comfortable showing my taste to others. Have HR songs aged well for you? And are they also guilty pleasure of yours just like me?
