Phone Bhoot (a more massy genre) didn't do that much better considering it had Katrina in it, a far bigger release, more promotions and Katrina is a huge star in Hindi cinema. Then you have Ishaan and Siddhant.

Mili had an extremely limited release + is a genre of film no one will see in theatres anymore, so considering that all, it did better than I expected. Also no tharki fans will go see someone in a freezer, so the JK fans who went (+ bought tickets) were genuine. There was 0 hype too.

Mili probably sold more tickets because of the actual story, not the actors themselves.

The real question is, how many fans does Kangana have? Dhaakad wasn't anything too out of the ordinary, and she certainly promoted it....

Dude I am no fan of Kangana. But being proud because you did better than a disaster? . Yes, Kangana still does have some respect as a talented actress. If you ignore the fool she has made out of herself otherwise. But her film was a disaster? So Jhanvi is proud her film wasn’t as big of a disaster. Ok !

Chalo if you think it is good news than I will be happy for her ! Go Jhanvi !

No! Please God No! If she retires from acting, she will focus completely on politics and ek aur gadha-shree nahi chahiye, already pange bahut hai 🥲

I mean, I'm no Janhvi fan but one thing that comes up is people saying that she only has male/tharki fans. Her movie did better than expected considering such a small release, and the only people who went there had to be serious JK fans, not tharki fans. Kangana/Dhakaad is a completely different matter entirely but considering how bleak the future looks for debutantes hit by the pandemic, this is not bad for JK.

Kangana has lost all her respect, even for her acting. To think I was once one of her biggest fans!

I still don’t understand why you would celebrate a disaster that was slightly better than another

Jhanvi has had one successful OTT release. Where she herself got average reviews. Sorry to say Kangana has proven herself in many successful movies.

Comparing one of Jhanvi’s movies to Kangana’s is purely anecdotal. You should average their film to know where they stand in terms of success

But whatever

Matter in fact if this is the new standard of measuring success. Than Phonebooth stars should be really happy. Their film at least did better than Milli. 😆

Jhanvi and Kangu can't be compared at all - Dhakaad just shows how heavily the mighty have fallen.

But we can compare JK to Tapsee, Bhumi, Sonakshi, Parineeti (other solo releases this year) and she's doing better considering her career has been very....criticized (rightfully) on the internet. Mili is also probably the least profitable venture of JK, GLJ was a success on Hotstar, and Roohi made budget back through OTT.

That's 3ish 'money-made back' movies, and 1 outright flop (Gunjan). Dhadak finances were carried out in a backdoor deal by KJO.
