I rewatched Raja (1995) ft. Madhuri and Sanjay and cringed hard

As the title suggests, I happened to rewatch Raja after ages. Don't ask me what made me do so lol

I used to love the songs of this movie, Madhuri and Sanjay had good chemistry too but the movie was soooo problematic at many levels.

1. Madhuri's character Madhu forcing Raja to fall in love with her.

2. Raja testing her love by asking her to sleep with him 😔

3. Showing and announcing constantly throughout the movie thar Paresh Rawal's character Birju is paagal (mad).

4. Mental hospital are bad news where they give electric shocks to patient for no reason rather than actually treating the patient. This was very triggering to watch and they had multiple scenes where mental health was shown as a joke in the movie.

5. Madhu's own brothers who brought her up like their own daughter treating her like shit, beating her up, hiring a man who tried to rape her so that she breaks off with her lover. Honestly, all this was so painful to watch.

I know the movie released back in 1995 but I am just baffled with how many things were wrong with this movie. It honestly made me hate the fact that I actually had gone to theater back in the day to watch this crappy fest. 😔

You needed a rewatch to find it cringe!😳

the movie was a hit because of the songs, you can watch them over and over because of madhuri despite the wooden tree Sanjay Kapoor

it always makes me wonder that if those movies worked only because ppl had nothing better to do or wathc, so many of them would have flopped if they came now, dil is equally bad
