SRK's career without KJo and YRF - what would it be? - Page 16

SRK being an overseas darling has a lot to do with YRF's penetration in overseas markets. YRF and Dharma usually shot films abroad, had NRI characters, had concerts and live shows or marketing and interviews among overseas audiences too.

Something that other PHs lack and other stars did less.

SRK has also done more NRI roles compared to others. So naturally he was more relatable and popular to overseas audience. He rarely did highly rooted roles like say, Dabanng which is set in a small UP town and is totally desi to the hilt. He cultivated a highly urban image which clicked with overseas audience. He also never got into local issues or politics like say, Aamir got into with RDB.

His films were about love stories and convincing or taking family and friends along, which is happy go lucky and relatable theme for urban and overseas audience too.

The kind of access that YRF, Dharma gave him and his films is unthinkable for other actors. It is his talent and charisma also that he benefited them or fitted universe of their films perfectly.

Your example of Alia is perfect in this context. The backing and support, the access makes world of difference for the actor.

SRK got honoured by foreign govts same way as Yash Chopra did. He became a cultural ambassador of sorts through YRF which already had huge reach abroad and Chopras are also politically well connected.

Otherwise on their own alone, no artist gets so huge or larger than life.

Others like Aamir, Akshay, Salman, Ajay, Sunny, Hrithik, Sunil, Sanjay etc never got that kind of support from the biggest PH of India.

There is no PH in India as huge and with as much widespread reach as Chopras. Chopras ruled T.V. space also through BR Chopra. Yash and BR Chopra were like messiahs of entertainment business. Of course being blue eyed boy of someone as powerful as Chopras helps a lot.

Vivek Oberoi got destroyed with fallout with Adi Chopra. We all know what power Chopras hold in making or breaking careers of stars.

Why only SRK? I think Kajol, Rani and Preity also owe their stardom to YRF, Dharma. Rani especially was doing B grade films like Raja ki aayegi baraat and Mehendi before she caught fancy of K Jo and clicked with KKHH and also got success with Aamir in Ghulam. If these women are darlings of overseas lot and masses, that too is due to YRF and Dharma making them in house favs.

The previous two posts speak to my heart, to my feelings and to what I think, too.

I would like to know if there ever have been such two intense artistic and loving relationships as they have been between Yashji and SRK and SRK and Karan.

I can understand that there are SRK lovers who call Karan a snake but as for me, I think, SRK didn't want to follow Karan's path anymore. He may have done KANK out of love for him although being uncomfortable, but he did MNIK as a kind of swan-song of the relation Karan-SRK-Kajol and because of the subject and artistic challenge. Nevertheless, there had been - again - some different views how to present the story (as it has been in KANK already), so, I think, SRK just felt to let make Karan his experiences without him (the first step being to decline the role as the - gay - principal in SOTY). It's absolutely okay for me as Karan started to show a certain distancing from his first movies and became a sex-and gossip-obsessed industry-tycoon...not MY cup of tea.

I hope few other people realise it as well who very wrongly labelled Karan Johar a SNAKE when he was unable to cast srk in his films as a lover boy anymore as he passed that age, and karan is mostly known for making romcoms only, handling mature theme is not his strong point, he had to cast younger actors in his movies post twenty ten when srk crossed 45.

Obviously srk had that connectivity and screen presencs that's why he got repeated so many times and his career was mainly built by these two banners, this is not something to be ashamed of and certainly does not need such long debates, explanations and clarification from both sides.

It is Srk's credibility that he was considered worthy enough by these two banners.

Just like Urmila's career was mainly shaped by RGV. Why this is an issue at the first place ? It should not be.

KJo was never called a snake for not casting SRK...By 45 SRK was a huge superstar ....he was in a postion to reject movies or accept the ones he wanted to (just want to say he doesn't have a good script sense though) SRK was Hirani's first choice for almost all the movies and the stupid man rejected them....the point I am trying to make ....at 45 KJo and his stupid SOTY type movies didn't matter......KJo was called a snake for several reasons but not this one....and KJo is a snake.🤢
