That's very strange: "The user you are trying to quote may have blocked you. You cannot quote his/her posts."

Well, I will copy/paste what I wanted to quote from Yankees:

"Somehow Srk as a lover boy always seems rehearsed, repetitive and kind of plastic/made-up to me.

But what to do, just like everything else about him, he and people made a big deal about this as well."

1st line: I never felt that although I agree that some kind of his acting got repetitive. But I think, even in real life we repeat gestures and expressions of romantic love, so, actually, it doesn't bother me.

I think, every actor has his/her own way to express romance and it's understandable if one does connect with some and doesn't connect with others. As for me, my heart and mind could connect with ShahRukh enacting romance.

2nd line: The "big deal" I don't like are the labels made by media and enjoyed (I feel) by fans like Baadshah of Bollywood, King Khan and King of romance. I know, his name signifies "face of a king" and watching the crowd on his birthday and SRK greeting them from the platform has a very 'royal' touch and is plain overwhelming. It's most the stamp of "King of romance" that bothers me because of the danger to get typecast which, imo, isn't what SRK deserves.

without KJO and YRF, i think SRK's career would have been very sad.😭 He would have been haklaoing in some 3rd grade movie, what else. 😉Big thanks to KJO and YF, we were spared those scenes👍🏼😆

Nishita, that's exactly my point of view ("they benefitted from each other") and I think, that's the best way to see it...and nothing to really discuss about...except the emotional angle that bound them together...an angle I saw in many relations between SRK and his directors/co-stars...and I've witnessed that the emotional bond was even with the dance troops in his shows...and the technicians...basically almost all those who work with and for him even if it's 'only' about the trust and appreciation he has for their work.

Birdie, through your posts, I know that you dislike SRK (which doesn't bother me as nobody is liked by all) but I disagree with your assertion that his career would have been a sad one. There already were directors and producers who had made positive experiences with SRK before he did his first movie with YRF (Yashji only contacted him after Aamir's negative reaction and because of his performance in Baazigar). He would have succeeded in any way...and YRF would have made a movie with him - for sure!

SRK also was a Rakesh Roshan "boy" until Rakesh launched his son...

Oh yes, Taiz, they can and they do...oups, there were other posts in between...sorry

However, it still fits as the producers have THE say (far too often "unfortunately").

At the end of the day it's a business, and simply about making a profit 😃

rck, in SRK's case, I think, there was the additional fact of bonding, of an emotional connect... otherwise doing both (YRF and KJo) 3 movies back to back with SRK doesn't make so much sense.

How is it a risk when SRK was a newcomer and had no choices anyway?

A newbie, outsider with no godfather, took whatever he got. That explains some cheap choices like Maya Memsaab too.

It is not like he was spoilt for choice or had many options and still took a risk.

As a newcomer, outsider and just a Doordarshan actor, SRK took whatever he got and was probably only too happy to get film offers.

I would not agree with lionising SRK as some risk taker.

Given how he later mostly did romantic films with same old YRF, Dharma, until he decided to experiment a bit with Excel offering him Don and Raees.

The reason why this thread is unique 👍🏼

Is because the TITLE is asking us to predict.

PREDICTING SRK's CAREER without KJO & YRF is very difficult. 😲

Yes, rck, it's a kind of supposing (but not really predicting because since 12 years he didn't made a movie with KJo and Pathan will be a YRF movie (but not Aditya-movie) after Fan in 2016 (not a romantic movie!).

Of all the movies with a prominent role (60 movies), SRK made 14 movies with KJo/YRF...

atominis, if you look at SRK's filmography, he indeed took more than one risk during his career. And yes, the beginning already was risk-taking as such as being a successful TV actor would not have implied to become a successful Hindi filmstar...

I don't know how YRF makes its contracts but usually big production houses book promising actors/actresses (and directors etc.) for a certain amount of movies in advance.

Throughout his career, SRK has done a lot of movies where romance was just a part of the masala...
