I remember watching film fare awards function in NSCI in Mumbai and when Jaya Bachchan entered ( which was like close to 2 hours after the eveng started)..every single person from the industry went to meet her and touched her feet for the half an hour she was there ..the woman has some insane respect ( even if we think she is totally insane herself now) but Bachchans command attention..how much ever we hate them..people hover all around and over them when they are around

But also after the kind of stuff Kangana has said about people, everyone should treat her like this only.

They are a highly well connected and well networked family from all sides. Jaya's background is also elite. Amitabh's family was chaddi buddies with no less than Nehru-Gandhi clan.

There are no legends or icons or politicians and industrialists Bachchans are not 'connected' to.

They command insane respect. Same for Mangeshkars.

Waise she herself is no less well connected. Her dad was a bigshot political journalist and editor in Calcutta. Sort of media baron of his times. She herself is an MP. Even Amitabh would not let go of her links and pedigree. Rekha or others never had that elite background as Jaya had.

Yes it's a mutually beneficial partnership

True. I am not surprised Amitabh's parents were really keen he stay married to Jaya and did not allow him to divorce her when he was ready to dump her for Rekha.

Bachchans are particular about khandaan and khandaani values. The relation is mutually beneficial and respectable in eyes of society and brings them both unprecedented social, potlical, financial and cultural capital.

Good for Jaya. I am shocked anyone felt she should have met Kangana when Kangana has had a history of attacking Jaya, her family, and her industry. I guess Kangana has had so many feuds with just about everyone in Bollywood that people forget that Jaya was targeted as well.

Jaya Bachchan made it clear in parliament she didn’t appreciate Kangana calling Bollywood a gutter. Dhali mein ched was her wording.

They have managed to stay relevant and important for so long

No mean feat considering how fickle show biz is

AB Sr was a flop in other ventutres like business and politics and even his acting career suffered (natural setback that happens to most), his health crashed, they went into huge debt

He overcame all that and is still here

You have to give him credit for that tenacity despite his other annoying or hateful actions
