Doctor G First Monday Business

Doctor G had a 60% drop in collections on Monday as it collected 1.50 crore nett. The four day figures of the film are around 15.25 crore nett but the Monday number is just not good enough especially for a film which is more about the weekday business than the weekend as its never going to put huge weekend numbers.

This has been the story post pandemic with films in this genre. There are two main issues and one they are they dont get the Saturday growth as before and the Monday drops are more than before. Films like these would not have dropped much more than 50% before even if not liked.

It does look like the end of this urban type of concept comedy film unless there the trends the change. Doctor G is a pre pandemic film but the problem is urban content is still being greenlit post the pandemic. Doctor G will be saved by its 40 crore plus digital revenue though theatrically it has failed.. The four day collections of Doctor G are as follows.

Friday - 3,60,00,000

Saturday - 5,00,00,000 apprx

Sunday - 5,25,00,000 apprx

Monday - 1,50,00,000 apprx

Total - 15,35,00,000 apprx

Picture ko time to do 🤪Monday pe flop declare kar diya

I think, at the current times, even a good promotion doesn't guaranty an acceptable succes for movies who aren't made especially for the big screen and/or as mass-entertainers (for the whole family/for single screens, too). For example, special effects are a draw, movies with mass-scenes are a draw, movies with a lot of mouvement (fights, chases, stunts).

People - especially in cities - have become accustomed to watch Dr.G-kind of movies on TV screens or even smaller screens during the pandemic/lockdowns.

Ayushman himself (and the others with them) are decent actors, but they don't incite many of the target-audience to spend their money for a theatre-watch when they can enjoy the home cinema. Many people have changed their movie-watching habit.

And there also is a certain fatigue with what the Hindi filmindustry presents far too often. It's a certain laziness of the makers to not have made profit of the pandemy by coming up with more original movies which don't reak of "we all do know this already", "oh, so patriotic", "again a message" or "nothing to laugh about".

Look at the movies who made (honest) money...

I am not his fan nor his hater, but what I predict his future in film career will not be good, if he choices scripts like these, also PS will...
