This is a story I had heard from an uncle about Amitabh Bachchan. He knew a film producer who Bachchan had approached as a newcomer. The producer had turned him down calling him a kabootar. Amitabh Bachchan was ungracefully tall and thin and he had many rude reminders of it from the producers and directors who did not see his potential. When he became successful, the producer went back to him—I like to think he went crawling—but Bachchan asked him to bugger off. Every time I heard this story I could hear Bachchan's voice: "Mein aaj bhi phenke huye paisey nahin uthaata."
These are my top choices in order of his filmography that I managed to catch -- do add if you think I have missed out on something.

He was narrator in many films but was most memorable in Satyajit Ray’s Shatranj Ke Khiladi and his Hollywood role in The Great Gatsby.
Happy belated 80th, Mr Bachchan.
