Taran Adarsh is bang on. Bollywood while focusing on Twitter bots and Instagram have not realised that it is the WhatsApp that they have to bothered about.

During the pandemic atleast 70 percent of Indian population has got onboard WhatsApp. Twitter and Instagram are not even 10 percent

Kashmir files became a blockbuster because of WhatsApp. As did Pushpa RRR and now Karthikeya 2

the audience that watches the movies in the first two days posts on WhatsApp whether people should go to the theatre or not. And people rely on a WhatsApp msg of a known person who spent money on the movie to decide if they should also rather than on these star interviews

At the same time WhatsApp is platform that most trollers use to forward memes as well msgs for boycotts with edited videos of these interviews

Bollywood therefore should really shut up and produce good content. Release better trailers and launch better music videos. That will get the first two days audience and who if they like the movie will promote it for free on WhatsApp. While by shutting up stars and directors will not bear the brunt of WhatsApp boycott memes and forwards

Yepp, Karthikeya 2 was awesome, despite less media coverage!!

At this point, that will be best. Let your work talk.

Yes, they should stop speaking during interviews. In fact, they should stop speaking in general. Not to their family or friends. Not at home. Not outside. Not ever. If they want to communicate, they can do so with their eyes and hope for the best.

No they shouldn’t stop giving interviews. The main purpose of promotions is to get the word out that the movie is releasing on a said date. Content is king no doubt, but a lot of good content movies go unnoticed for variety of reasons, among them lack of awareness by the public that such movie exists. Instead they should work on changing methods of promotions. And stars should definitely take media training workshops.

This will work for small to medium budget movies

For big budget, event movies this will be a deterrent

Brilliant.

On topic, one trailer launch is enough.

Just drop songs weekly and do YouTube stuff.

Honestly speaking, cheap channels WANT stars to say things that they'd regret later and get eyeballs.

Be careful in choosing which media house you talk to.

None of this helps because they are not up against reasonable people. Boycott bots deliberately spread fake news and edit clips in such a way that it looks problematic when it's not. Their entire intent is to spread hatred especially on religious grounds. It is also not average people doing it. There's an entire army paid to do this and then it eventually spreads to average people from them.

You guys are acting as if some special change from the actors and how they communicate will fix things. No, it won't. Nowadays they even spread 10 year old clips and edit them in malicious ways.
