Huge amounts of money are deeply ingrained in the family, so education is unimportant.

Sad isn't it? There's no substitution for education, certainly not money.

So a 10th grade pass married a 12th grade dropout and both of them are vacuous AF. I'd say it's a match made in heaven😆

Wo 40 years old hai usko education Kab kaam aya? Waise bhi uska image PR hi build karta hai, he doesn't need education

Abhi education in India is an elimination process skill based Education nahi hai apne yaha, wo elimination process to bira ne Kapoor Khandan mein paida hoke hi cross kar liya

Agar wo koi normal Ranbir hota to usko face karna hota elimination process

True , Alia and Ranbir were raised in toxic and unstable family and now that they are adults, they are contributing to the dysfunction. Education could have widen their horizons and improved the situation a bit imo.

But their parents and even them never viewed education from that perspective ig .

School/ College provides for holistic development and aren’t just a medium to get job tbh .

Even Akshay who didn't receive much formal education placed a high importance on education and wishes for his children to receive quality education as they have access to resources which he didn’t have.

It’s all about difference in their attitude.

In a country that values education so much, what a shame that the Kapoor family never thought to properly educate their kids. The lack of education truly shows in most of his interviews.

Oh and in HR, talent may be first but donation/sifarish and dodgy quotas have always very much existed.

Not everyone does well in school. Nor is college necessary for everyone. But I think getting a degree just gives people valuable life experiences and expands their worldview.

Raj Kapoor wasn't well educated. But he wasn't really a privileged brat. He actually did work hard in his early days. I mean he set up a major production studio at a young age.

I think all of Raj's sons went to Don Bosco but I am not sure how far they went. Ranbir went to Bombay Scottish. Bombay Scottish is a very elite ICSE school. I'm sure a kid like Ranbir who doesn't do well in school caused them a lot of stress. SSC students are like chopped liver to Bombay Scottish.

school may also be a bubble for these people sometime, it is not like middle class will come to dhirubhai ambai school but definetly college will give a world view, expose you to different people, install a work ethic, you will make freinds will go to different professions etc. you may not use the actual education in your job but the intangible benefit will shape your world view

no wonder one would find him so suave and polished if one met him for real. It's the prep school background.

I think 4 years of real life experience can give someone more life experiences than 4 years in college spent mugging books and getting laid. 😆

the problem is most people cant get jobs without the educational credentials. If someone can, then it obviates the need for a formal education. At top elite firms these das, one learns more every few months on the job than one learns doing an MBA from a top univ. At firms like Google and FB, educational degrees are not even a requirement these days. You could be a 20 year old kid without a degree but if you pass their tests, you're in. In any case, to assume that 4 years of college will give someone perspectives for a life time is silly. One needs to keep learning all one's life... because knowledge is never static.

in Ranbir's case, he was able to get employment right away as an assistant director in a top film studio and later as an actor. That obviated the need for an education imo. From there, he had to learn what he wanted to. If he still sounds stupid at times, its because he was not very hungry to learn- which more than formal education is more essential in real life. He was not hungry because he has everything he wants... a problem a lot of ABCD kids with rich dads also have.

anyway, other than famous Americans who were drop-outs, we also have Adani. Dropped out from a vague univ during his 2nd year. The guy was hungry though and he was enterprising. That's what it took in his case, and that's what it generally takes. The formal education is only necessary if one cant get employed.

beyond education and IQ, one also needs SQ and EQ. I think Ranbir has those qualities in spades, more than most "educated" desis. There's a reason women in RL (as opposed to online) kept swooning over him.
