You don't have to be a jack of all trades to be recognized as a top notch singer if you are the best at what you do. Replace Kumar Sanu's voice with someone else's and the songs would totally lose their charm and appeal cuz much of it relied on his singing style too .... he has a truly gifted voice that takes on a life of its own with the right composition.

I would beg to differ take any duet of kumar sanu against be it with sonu nigam or udit narayan, abhijeet and the other outshined kumar sanu, be it sonu duet title song of jodi no 1, or be it udit's duet mohabbat dil ka sukoon hai, kumar sanu was overly nasal which sometime sounded irritating to ears, babul supriyo had a better tone he was kumar sanu without naselness, its just that kumar sanu got good tunes x could sounded equally good if not better with other singers too, considering the duets take any where kumar sanu was outshined by likes of udit or sonu, abhijeet with more crystal clear vocals

https://youtu.be/0NtKpBvfRvM

And to add abhijeet's rendition of tum dil ke dharkan and ankhoon me base ho tum also outshines kumar sanu rendition, and if u go to read music review section of 90s songs the review writers always disliked kumar sanu vocals because of heavily nasal and unnecessarly dragging voice from his nose,

all his contemporary had a better crystal clear voice except him be it sonu be it abhijeet be it udit be it vinod rathod, kumar sanu himself admit that he has been a nasal singer so far,

Buddy, why would you waste your time explaining things to someone who's clearly blinded by his love for a certain singer? It's like banging your head on a wall.

IMO Half of the 90's music wouldn't have been the same had it not been for Kumar Sanu's songs, and I 100% second to what you've said in here

he got good songs in early part of 90s due to nadeem shravan favouritism that makes more than half of his 90s and nadeem saifi now himself regret to use kumar sanu for his majority of songs , anyone could have gotten those songs would have sounded great, it was the greatness of the songs and not the singers capability to rendition it, its just that was his rise so every song came his way, it was sheer luck the question arises was he a great singer? ,i dont think so , he hadnt proved himself as a great singer before retirement his singing style was too predictable plus his voice was too nasal sometime it became cacophonous to hear and for it he always was criticised during his peak, he got good tunes in early 90s to sing was his good luck and being freinds with nadeem shravan as they started together,

and there is nothing like blind for any singer , this i feel for kumar sanu when i wasn't introduced to udit or sonu back in days , i have always disliked the nasalness of kumar sanu despite of him singing good lyrical tunes during his days, i still believe many of his songs would have been much greater with some good voices which were not nasal to ears

i go by this analysis which is very clear and wise and explain the things in a better way

Not just 1994, but even the whole 90's...what a song...what a composition

I can't choose between this song and Pehla Nasha as my favourite song from the 90's decade

Telugu one released in 94 n in Hindi later . In Telugu one legend spb Garu sang the song .

Far out! 😂

You can have your personal opinion on his voice, no problemo. I wouldn't even bother arguing with you if it wasn't for the super dismissive way you're writing off KS.

It's great that Sonu is a versatile Swiss army knife but there are plenty of singers who excel in their genre and I don't see any reason to knock them for not diversifying their profiles. Each movie selects several singers to sing diff. genres and song types anyway.

I happen to love KS's voice despite all the complains about the "nasal" tone. There's no factual basis behind that opinion -- you either like it or you don't. I personally find it very distinct and think his voice adds a different body to songs that other singers simple can't deliver no matter how good they are and how hard they try. Just take this for an example. Sonu singing Tu Mile Dil Khile and falling flat cuz it doesn't live up to the original rendition by KS.

the audio you posted is singing of sonu from live concert as raw form from 1995 when he was around 18-20 years old completely raw, you can not compare a proper recorded song of shanu with a live stage raw performance of sonu and give the verdict ,

either you can see the duets both have done and trust me be it Sonu , Udit or abhijeet they outshines kumar sanu as nobody has done to him lol

with likes of Udit, Sonu Nigam and Abhijeet they were crystal clear voices , while kumar sanu was high on nose, even if you look at him singing live his entire pressure is on his nose, other sings from heart kumar sanu used to sing through nose

but even then if you want to hear Sonu owning kumar sanu songs from a very recent example here it is, it is prime example of how some beautiful songs were ruined by kumar sanu and would have sounded better with likes of sonu , shaan , udit , abhijeet,

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IeFX7WDAHSw

you must also check what kumar sanu has done to Sonu's soulful kabhi alvida na kehna with the nasalness he added to it although i still give him benefit of doubt here at it is live , but still kumar sanu voice doesn't have the soul for such songs, his nose cant do much when it comes to soulful singing

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yl8WjBhLn84&t=3s

and for your nasel proof this is how history remember Kumar Sanu, some review of kumar sanu songs by different writers he himself admit his naselness

If that's not admissible to you, why do you have Kumar Sanu's "raw" performance of KANK at the end of your post to make a case against him? You're not being honest and fair by posting a random clip nicked off a live concert after he had already run out of steam either, now are you?

Just because you say that Abhijeet and Udit outshine him in those songs doesn't make it a fact -- again, that's your opinion. And you are so biased here, is it any wonder that anyone next to Kumar Sanu "outshines" him according to you? I don't think so. 😆

Personally speaking, I love them all but Abhijeet's voice has that extra edge that wins me over ... and it stands out to me the most. I think it was you who posted a face-off between Udit and Abhijeet where he aces Jadoo Teri Nazar.

The video you posted is not available in my country, and that's okay, I think already know what you were trying to "prove" with it.

I don't think these cutouts of PR articles and God-knows-who's opinions prove anything. There's a reason so many people enjoy his songs, and to credit that to the music composition alone is very dismissive and something I'll never agree with.

Anyways, and we're back to square one. It's a losing game cuz you can't even bring yourself to give him credit where it's due. 🤷‍♀️ so that's about all I have to say on this matter. I'm gonna leave it at that.

Posted the kank song video just to show you that one can't make judgements on recorded vs live,

secondly so many people enjoy so many singers doesn't make him good either lol he was avaeage at his best and all his songs could have been better with some real good voice by that I mean a pure voice and not nasal one,

every singer had his peak period kumar sanu had it too but then his Monotonous nasal work couldn't made him one of the best singers history will always remember him as a nasal singer,

My rule is simple a good singer can not be nasal and a nasal singer can not be good as simple is that 😊 kumar was highly average as a singer relied on doing hey hey and la la la in songs besides this he never had anything to offer, there is nothing much to hear from him, and in later 90s and early 2000 is better not to be discussed as it was too much damaging for ears he was at his worst singing voice in 2000 his nasalness got to some next level, if u see the video of tere chuanriya dil Lee gaye you will feel that salman Khan had a block nose in it lol 😂

I can define kumar sanu as a lucky guy who got nice hummable tunes (credit off course goes to his dear friends composer nadeem sharavan who now regret their choice) although his hey hey la la got Monotonous at one point of time so he couldn't prove himself as a real great singer, even if we suppose that he was half as talented as he is portrayed by some even then his choice of songs lower his graph as an artist.

I know not everyone is bound to be versatile but at least one should have control on breath, vibrato and dragging of lines, kumar sanu had none of it, he used to drag lines clulessly directly into nose

nasal voice quality + no range + Monotonous singing + alot of hey hey la la = Kumar Sanu

I don't hate him though but his voice and that unnecessary nasal vibrato at his ending notes and the dragging from the nose just doesn't sound good to ears.

There can be many people not liking abhijeet voice, there can be many people not liking sonu voice, there can be many people not liking kk, udit voice and if I say that I don't like nasal voices should not be taken in negative sense,

I enjoy himesh reshamiya songs but I don't like his voice, same goes to kumar sanu, I can enjoy his songs but his voice is on par with himesh reshamiya, I can't like it, there is no anmosity I just dont like singers voices coming from nose

Himesh and kumar sanu are direct victims of nose lol
