Ohh!! The answers to the question:

  1. Amitabh respects her parents and their decision.
  2. He knows their choice will never be wrong in fact maybe better than him.
  3. He wants her parents happy and their honour will always be preserved, don't ask about Rakhi and her feelings. It is non existent.
  4. He doesn't want her parents to know that their daughter had loved a man and made a decision about her life without their permission. She should always be their little girl.

He made all this assumptions without even knowing her parents and made the decision to give up without trying.

I don't know why he even fall in love and be with her at all if he is so sansakar.

I guess he is a poet and he must have heard that to be the real poet, one should fall in love and most importantly get heartbroken.

This is the real reason he don't want to approach her parents.

You forgot to mention how he treats his wife Anjali(Wahida Rehman) like trash because he was never able to get over Pooja but becomes mighty upset with her when he finds out that even Anjali had a past and a daughter out of that relationship. I watched the movie as a teenager and even at that time his double standards and hypocrisy were hard to miss. On the contrary, I remember absolutely loving Shashi Kapoor’s character. I guess Pooja dodged a huge bullet which went and hit poor Anjali.

Amitabh is a piece of work in this movie. Even then I hoped he married Rakhee only because she was on the same wavelength with him.

I was fuming at her every time she responds like a boring grown up whenever Vijay(Shashi) gets playful and romantic with her. Man needed someone who is cheerful, playful, hyper, OTT and romantic just like him. side note: like ME, period.

Both Waheeda and Shashi would have been spared from these star-crossed lovers who are wet blankets only in my opinion.

The music top class even though I don't know what Yash Raj want to show or achieve by the wedding night scene. My man looked heavenly throughout though.

I watched Kabhi Kabhi when I was a kid and the only thing I remember was how weird I felt when Rakhi was singing kabhi kabhi mere dil mein khayal aata hai during their first night and there were tears in her eyes but Shashi Kapoor was in full mood of consummating their marriage that he didn't even notice that his wife is sad and crying. 🤣🤣🤣
