Aamir is an icon also and has more National awards, Padma awards than SRK.

More socially impactful films.

SRK is welcome to buy any awards or use links abroad to become X, Y, Z fellow like Amitabh does but it means nothing.

The topic is about quality and BO success of films. Not net worth or awards (most of which are purchased or in barter deal anyway). If awards was criteria then people would think Ash is bigger or more talented icon than any other actress in Indian cinema as she has more so called global awards.

Today mental health professionals show films like TZP to trainees to educate on learning disorders. Not usual romantic naach gaana and ladies sangeet films of your icon.

RDB, Lagaan, 3 Idiots, DCH, TZP, AAA are cult classics and also rated higher than Swades on IMDb.

Swades is a flop. Because SRK cannot pull off message based films. He is trapped in his own image and plays himself in each film. He remained SRK in Swades. Never became Mohan Bhargav. Audience rejected him in Swades.

He never becomes the character the way Aamir fits in every character like a chameleon and becomes Bhuvan, Nikumbh sir, Akash, Amar, Rancho, DJ. This is why his films have both critical and commercial acclaim and real life social impact.

Aamir is not trapped in particular image and is a more versatile, talented actor who puts character and story above self aggrandizement as a hero.

Aamir has more movies rated above 8 on IMDB and more films that made it to IMDb top 250 compared to any other star in Indian cinema.

Ram Jaane and Chaahat were not successful and so was Paheli (super flop).

SRK has never succeeded in rural chap roles the way Aamir hit it outta the park in Lagaan.

SRK is just an urban actor which is why he mostly did those NRI boy romances.

He was a poor show in Don also when he failed at recreating Khaike paan Banaras wala song because he lacks the rooted appeal of Amitabh Bachchan who aced both rural and urban roles in the original.

Aamir began reinventing from 3 Idiots? LOL! What were Earth, Sarfarosh, Lagaan, RDB, TZP, Ghajini then?

What was Raakh and Akele Hum Akele Tum? He won National award for Raakh as a newcomer.

None of these films are typical lover boy films.

Even in DCH he played the least likeable character of the film.

He was called total misfit and miscast for Ghajini but he broke all records with it.

He does have connection with audience which is why audience trusts him and even his flop Mangal Pandey The rising broke all opening records in 2005 and became biggest opener of all time then.

Merely having bots online trending hashtags for you is not indicator of connection with audience. Aamir has trust and respect of audience and people feel if he is doing something it must be special. Anyday respect and trust takes lot to earn as an artiste. Aamir has earned it.

He has never been online 24/7, nor attends award shows or does many reality shows or interviews or magazine covers. He stopped doing stage shows after 90s. He keeps a low profile. He does no PR at all. He does not dance at weddings or attend parties for a fee. He does not endorse fraud institutions like IIPM for a fee.

Being reclusive does not mean star has no connection with people. He has credibility and is choosy about projects, brands and caused he lends his name to.

He barely does one film a year or one film in 4-5 years. He does not have conventional good looks or style or fashion sense. Still he has more hits and more critically acclaimed films and is one of biggest superstars of all times in Indian film industry.

This is why no one remembers his characters or their names. Nor his different attempts work.

He is himself in each show and film or ad he does. Unlike Aamir who has different avatars in even ads he does. And people remember different characters he plays.

SRK remains SRK no matter what. His versatility is limited to playing different types of lover boy. Obsessed stalker violent lover in Darr and Anjaam. College lover in KKHH, DDLJ, family man lover in RNBDJ, K3G. Even as a ghost he plays lover only as he did in Paheli.

The funny thing is that even his producers market his films using his lover image. Raees is not a romantic film yet its promos were all about romantic songs of SRK and Mahira. No wonder audience felt cheated when they saw that film was totally different and not a romance at all.

I feel if SRK did TZP he would sideline the kid, get a lady teacher in the film and add some romantic angle, rather than focus on tackling a dyslexic kid. 🤣

He can't help it nor can his producers who add a romantic angle in whatever film he does.

The truth is that those romantic family dramas with same old convincing girl or in-laws and endless family functions, ladies sangeet are jaded now. Even TV serials copy family dramas and marital disputes now. As soon as audience got fed up of overdose of such films and actors they moved on which is why one trick ponies are giving flops now.

No one wants to see a lover boy for decades at a stretch.

Unless of course one is doing a Baghban or Avtar remake in older age.

A ham actor with weak, shaky voice and only different types of lover roles as his forte can only carry on so much.

His films are for timepass and watching without having to use much brain. Predictable fare like roadside cotton candy.

No one will remember these films and they have already become subjects of jokes and memes now. No one mocks RDB, TZP, Lagaan, Earth, Sarfarosh, DCH, 3I the way people make jokes, caricatures and memes on faltu romantic films and write blogs on how regressive those films are.

Nah, I've seen it happen before. There was a Juhi thread somewhere where atominis claimed Juhi got married because she got pregnant and producers got angry with her. Because I didn't remember that bit of gossip, looked it up. Turns out kid was born 5 years after. 😆 Unless she had a woolly mammoth pregnancy, not sure how it was a shotgun wedding.

We all have our favorites, I suppose.

I actually like Aamir. But he simply isn't a star the way SRK is. And see how ToH, the ONE star vehicle Aamir did, is conveniently missing from discussions. That was the YRF-style, no story movie Aamir was supposed to carry. 😆
