Authenticity. Great point you made.

Salman and Anil reinvented themselves and they are what they are.

Other stars no longer rely on 90s or 2000s image. Unlike SRK who or whose PR/advisors are still stuck on his king of romance image.

I didn't like how MNIK was also marketed as a typical SRK-Kajol love story which it was NOT.

He should leave aside romance and do something totally different. And make sure it is not marketed like a romance.

In that sense I really like how Manoj Bajpai has reinvented his career and different kind of films, web series he is doing now.

Saif also did good job in Sacred Games.

Aamir did well in Dangal.

Khans should reduce reliance on scripts that have romantic angle or depend on heroines opposite them.

Or else they will only be accepted in Baghban sequel with heroine of their generation some years from now.

That does not reflect in real life at box office anymore even overseas as others are outgrossing his films.

South Asians is a big generalization. South Indians, NE people hardly watch Bollywood. In Punjab also Punjabi films have been outgrossing Bollywood films since last few years. And who told you whole of Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan etc are watching only SRK films overseas?

Only North India or Hindi belt and their diaspora are not South Asia representatives.

Overseas market means zilch when someone is irrelevant in domestic market.

Anyway it is about current generation and not entire history of last 3 decades. And for current Gen Z, SRK is not that relevant. Just an old time name and a has been big star whose last good film was CDI in 2007.

Gen Z is born after 1995. And they like new, younger actors more.

That is because Akshay is more visible compared to Khans. He is also fitter and looks younger than rest of 90s stars. Ones born after 2005 or growing in 2010s have probably seen more of Akshay onscreen as he does too many films and is literally there in every other ad. They may find it hard to believe Akshay was nowhere near Khans in 90s or 2000s in stardom.

Yes, there's a reason for that. The entire powerful machinery of the current dispensation and the entire IT cell is out pushing Akki as their golden boy, while the other 3 are constantly attacked and reviled. Not discounting their bad movie choices if any, but these things have a bigger impact than we realise.
