Kitna bhi accent badal le she'll always look white, so would never be able to connect to desi audience.

Kat is also white. Through and through. She looks white and acts white.

Even an illiterate Indian wouldn't mistake her to be desi though...even if she were two shades darker.

Nope.

Looks wise she can easily pass off as an Indian born & brought up IN India!

Accent/mannerism wise she can easily pass as an Indian brought up outside of India.

No she can't. She looks European or Middle Eastern.

Point is when Katrina claims her father is Kashmiri and mom is white, it sounds completely plausible. E.g. look at Nargis Fakhri.

In India itself you will find Indians born and brought up in India that could pass off as say middle eastern. All my bawa (Parsi) friends in college could actually pass of as European. And I have an aziz Kashmiri Pandit friend whose cheeks are rosy, literally. Then you have other folks, e.g. random example of Suzanne Khan (I don't know her ancestry) - she can easily pass of as East European. I also knew a Syed (they claim ancestry to Prophet Muhammad SAW), who literally had green eyes and fair complexion - he could easily pass off as an Arab.

And then coming to folks with white moms and desi dads. There is an Indian politician 💀, and then there are examples like Sanjana Kapoor (Sashi Kapoor's daughter).

So as an Indian you connect with someone, even if they have mixed parentage. This is especially true (based on the ingrained patriarchal perspective) when the "dad" is desi.

Back to Isabelle, unfortunately for her (wrt to Bollywood career) she doesn't look the part. Kat has easily sold her story and most of India has bought it. Whether that story is true or not, neither do I know, nor do I care. And I respect her for all she's achieved. 👏

There is no such thing as looking "white" or looking "Indian" either, I think there's an ideological flaw in that, esp. when India is such a massive country with over a billion people. Not all of them are gonna look the same. The higher your population, the more eclectic the mix. I mean, does Aishwarya Rai look indian? Does Hansika Motwani look Indian? They're both every bit as Indian as other women with the stereotypical "indian" look even though they might not fit that mold. Does Kanika Kapoor look Indian? She can easily pass off as an Arab or Persian or white too but again, she's every bit as Indian as whoever some people here think look more "Indian" than her looks wise. Tan skin and dark eyes is not the only "Indian" look.

Having said that, Katrina's sister Isabelle should spare all of us. 😵 She's so MEH looking it's a hard pass from me.
