Eternity means it's forever. Never ending. That's why hell is scary. You would forever be tortured there if you end up in that place.
And it doesn't make sense. Why should someone be punished infinitely for doing sins for a finite time (max 80 years give or take)?
But then some say the concept of time in afterlife can't be grasped by humans.
Even if rebirth is an endless cycle, you still won't have memories of any of your previous lives, which would still keep things fresh. But I think even heaven would be boring after a point in time (which again could be different in afterlife).
