Eternity means it's forever. Never ending. That's why hell is scary. You would forever be tortured there if you end up in that place.

And it doesn't make sense. Why should someone be punished infinitely for doing sins for a finite time (max 80 years give or take)?

But then some say the concept of time in afterlife can't be grasped by humans.

Even if rebirth is an endless cycle, you still won't have memories of any of your previous lives, which would still keep things fresh. But I think even heaven would be boring after a point in time (which again could be different in afterlife).

In hell, having to watch whatever we hate...and in heaven, can watch anything?!

Yeah I think I know what eternity means :P I was saying it's difficult for us to think beyond the dimension of time . Secondly in the context of an eternal hell or heaven , if you look at the descriptions, whether it's salvation or damnation , space does exist along with consciousness and perception ;there are rewards and there's punishment ,pretty much in earthly terms ;so it's actually impossible for time to not exist there. After the Abrahamic God winds up Earth with a deluge or a plague, like he has threatened to, he's still going to have to supervise Hell and Heaven in the context of Earthly dimensions. If you are going to be rewarded or punished based on what you did during your lifetime on Earth, there's a sense of continuity in terms of 'space' in the Post Earth life and that contradicts timelessness. In which case 'eternity ' becomes relative and that makes you think about what I said earlier - What happens after eternity ?

I agree. Eternal heaven would be boring. It's like being stuck with a guy who wouldn't stop complimenting you.

According to Hindu philosophy ( and it's offshoots/sister traditions) you do kinda retain 'memories' from past lives, as samskaras , karmic sensual imprints/proclivities and you work on them like a map and sort it out. So while there aren't clear cut memories , the next life isn't exactly fresh. Let's say I spend most of my time on this forum hating you and resenting you , if in another lifetime we meet on another forum, that energy remains and interferes. Now that brings up a whole set of tricky questions. Suppose my resentment towards you has been carried over from a previous life where you had done something to me or had sent me such vibes, then how did you end up having that impulse ? Was it fresh or was it carried over ? Where does free will coming in and where does it outwit destiny ? And so on.

Nope. I have eaten it but I don't remember liking it. Stopped eating meat when I was around 9 or 10
