Is Sid Malhotra back in the game with Shershah?

I haven't yet seen Shershah because I'm not ready for the emotional roller-coaster it's gonna be. Will probably watch it over the weekend, when I have time and when I have mentally prepared myself.

But from what I see of reviews, Sid has been appreciated unanimously for his sincere and heart-wrenching performance. Even his naysayers are saying he has nailed it. Assuming he has indeed transcended his limitations and has given a mind-blowing performance, is it safe to say he is back in the game?

It is going to be a game-changer for him? Will the fact that it was an OTT release and there is no way to gauge the film's performance on monetary grounds going to go against him?

I'm pretty sure the movie would have been blockbuster if released in theatres!

But since OTT is the new norm, can we say Shershah is a turning-point in Sid's career?

what do you guys think??

The movie is riding on Captain Vikram Bhatra’s name with Sid’s honest and sincere performance as the cherry on the top. His acting shortcomings were there, but what you see is his earnestness to do his best like as if this was his last chance. That charming smile he gives to his sweetheart when he boards the bus- never to come back again, is predominantly what you take home with you. :(

I hope so that this is not a mere flash in the pan and he will continue to shine, but I guess it depends on the kind of scripts he will choose. He should choose more such charming characters with less histrionics.

I don't know. Still don't think Sid has got the versatility or strong enough acting chops to rise to the very top.

But really happy for him and the adulation that he is getting for his work in Shershaah (haven't watched the film yet, planning to do so this weekend).

I have seen the songs though, of the film. And realized Sid makes such a terribly sweet onscreen hero when he is allowed to be so.. and it is something that I haven't seen in BW films for a long time. He just seems like the easiest guy to like. So no wonder that Cpt. Vikram Batra's role suited him and he is getting praised for it.

He just doesn't seem like a nasty person. He seems very sweet/likeable overall (and not just because he has nice big hands 😆)

I do think he can carve out a niche audience for himself the way John Abraham has. John doesn't act the best in diverse roles and just does the tough guy roles over and over and makes decent money from it.

But also because he has big hands, and beautiful and er, sexy. ☺️ and his nails were so clean and manicured. I couldn’t help but think of our Finger Fetish while watching his hands and paid a little extra attention on them, umm you know not for me but for her.☺️

Come to think of it, I have never disliked him. Even in SOTY he was the only character who appealed to me and seemed somewhat sane all the way till the end. I liked his camaraderie with Fawad in K&sons. Even in Ek Villain- though his acting fell short of what was expected of that role, I still felt for his character. I think you are right, it is because he is a very likable guy. With a little polishing of his acting, he can go very far!

@bold - 😆!!!!

And yes I totally agree. I couldn't get myself to watch Jabariya Jodi or Marjaavaan. The rest of the movies I've watched - I've always liked him in them. I remember when Ek Villain first came out.... I pretended it was the best movie on earth whenever someone asked me how it was. Then they'd get excited and watch in theaters 🤣 they were so disappointed

Back as in as a star we would never know because the movie didn't release in theaters so there are no box office collections to judge.

If there was no pandemic and the movie had a normal theatrical release, then it could've done something for Sid Mal like Kabir Singh did for Shahid.

It's unfortunate because the movie is actually getting a great response so it had a lot of box office potential.

A bit may be but not much. Unlucky for him Shershaah couldn't release in theaters. This seems to have 200crr blockbuster written over it the way audience feedbacks and responses are.
