"Superstar" is a relative term and as long as media and PR exists, there would always be some actor who would be referred as a "Superstar". Whether you agree with it or not is another thing.

Currently some people only consider Salman a Superstar, but then there are some who also include Aamir with him in the list. Then more people come and they add SRK as well, considering only the Khans as the last bunch of Superstars in Bollywood.

Include more people and you would find them adding Hrithik along with the Khans. Ask more people and they would call Akshay a Superstar as well. Dig more and there would be people who would also consider Ajay as a Superstar.

In my opinion all of the above mentioned actors along with Ranbir are currently the only Superstars in Bollywood, but at different levels, although that's just my opinion.

It is not over yet but it certainly is on its way to be . Salman couldn’t make any of his recent awful movies work just by his name which used to happen before

Just because Bollywood actors are famous or currently in demand that does not make them Superstars.

A Superstar is a huge status and on a bigger level only acheived by limited people.

Era of superstar would last long.

Salman had tons of flops before wanted in his 17 year career

Same with Aamir and srk , Hrithik too.

So don't know why flops would be counted as the only measure, Ranveer have given 2 blockbusters and a hit ,in his last 3 films.

Other actors would also come up who have flops and blockbusters and they will be counted as superstars only.

Khans and Hrithik make most people nostalgic as they watched them grow in Bollywood since they were kids.

Unlike the generation of Ranbir, Ranveer who came in Bollywood when the same generation grew up. That's why most consider Khans and Hrithik as the last bunch of Superstars because they see past through rose tinted glasses.

Keeping the commercial part side, the public has started discarding Sallu/SRK's medicore films since past 5 years.
We are not in 2013 anymore. The actors have realized that they can't take the public for granted.smiley14

Superstar era may not have gone completely BUT there's been certainly a paradigm shift in how the audiences perceive these "superstars" now...🤓

Lockdowns, SSR death, Drug controversies etc etc etc.... everything has gone against Bollywood in past one year.

I'd like to add that half of the onus is on us (the audience) because we were the ones who celebrated these superstars and their mediocre films.

E.g. Look at Salman's films in the last decade. They were nothing short of garbage (barring Bajrangi Bhaijan)

There is a cultural shift in the movie industry and it's definitely diluting the superstar culture along the way, which is a good thing in my opinion. I understand disliking celebrities based on their offscreen persona, etc. but I cannot for the life of me understand some people's obsession with actors to the point where they regard them as infallible entities. That can't be healthy on a societal level on the whole and I'm glad people are starting to appreciate cinema for what it has to offer instead of getting hung up on one or two "superstars," completely overlooking everything else.

Alia, Deepika, Ranveer, Ranbir, etc. are actors and that's about it ...and with a lot of shortcomings at that. Not a single one of those names pack a good enough deal that appeal to the masses in an undeniable way, like, say, Hrithik, who became an overnight sensation after KNPH.

This , I am glad this superstar culture is ending .. no ones gonna watch a shitty movie for Deepika or Ranbir or alia or Ranveer .. even Khan’s so called super star power is declining and people aren’t watching their mediocre movies

Deepika , Ranveer , Ranbir , Alia , Ayushmann may be A listers but they certainly aren’t superstars . even Khans are losing their grip as their trashy movies are flopping big time .

It will not be the same crazy fan following anymore like we have seen with Khans or other stars but star system will exist. A film with a prominent star will get more eyeballs and attention but at the end content will decide. It is the same for Hollywood.
