Did Vinod Khanna retire prematurely?

Vinod Khanna retired in 1997 from doing hero roles. His last movie as a action hero was Dhaal in 1997 with Suniel Shetty. He was amazing in it. Do you think he should have switched to proper character roles like his age fellows Amitabh and Rishi Kapoor? Rather then joining politics. He was totally forgotten after he retired, and few roles he did like in Dabang 2010 were forgettable roles. At one point in his life he was among the top actors

No I think he did what was best for himself

He should have never retire, because he was one of the Best

He retired long back in 80s I think when he joined Osho sex cult. People forgot about him after that and just flopped after he made a comeback.
