Take his hatke storyline out and he is as average as PR made stars like Deepika, etc. Same punjabi accent, same kind of dialogue delivery. His strongest point: choice of script.

His acting was quite monotonous in the beginning part of the career, where he was playing this typical Punjabi/Delhi dude again and again.

He is still doing that with films like Badhaai Ho and Subh mangal saavdhan stuff.

But he redeemed himself with Article 15 and Andhadhun. He needs to make such films at least once in two years to be taken seriously.

No. Other than Article 15 and Andhadhun he usually plays the same character over again. But even in those two movies, his performance was commendable, not superlative.

However, I must give him credit that despite playing the same character he manages to hold interest. There is something about the way he plays his characters that is fun and entertaining. There is always one tiny nuance that differentiates his characters ever so slightly - most of it is due to the topic on hand - sperm donation, homosexuality, erectile dysfunction, unemployment, small-town romance - his character is navigating a different challenge each time.

I envision his films as a sitcom. It's the same character - but that character gets in and out of different capers and keeps it entertaining all along.

The same can't be said of some others like Kartik Aryan who come across as boring and repetitive to me. Not only is it the same character, but everything seems tired and done. There is nothing fresh nor is there anything unique to the situations. Its one of those sitcoms where the gags and character get boring after a season and you stop watching it.

Of late Ayushman has been getting repetitive. It's like he is playing the same character set in different stories. The characters of badhaai ho, shubh mangal and the movie about baldness seem same. Wish he would take up some versatile roles.
