Sara was beyond bland. Varun over compensated for her by his OTT govinda mimicry.

May be it's just my taste but I was cringing half of the time than smiling. It wasn't even silly. It was not worth any of my emotions 🤢

And Varun and sara both, are capable of giving really good films with Badlapur and kedarnath in their goodies. So it was a much much disappointment.

They do have a chemistry though. I hope they come back with some good script which I think bollywood is running short of lately.

I guess you had to be in the right mood for appreciating brainless comedy. I don't know how old your kids are. But it takes a grown up who has experienced the ups and downs of life to truly appreciate the utter futility of revenge in Badlapur or even understanding why Varun couldn't forget & forgive even after 15 years or the sheer ridiculousness of the actions of puny human beings before nature's might in Kedarnath. By all means kids should get used to quality cinema. But the silly stuff which you enjoyed with family and friends makes for nostalgia down the years when life is not so rosy anymore.

its a ok timepass movie

watch the old one it is far more entertaining and a hilarious laughter riot🤣still remembering those scenes b/w kader saab-govinda brings a smile in the face it was so hilarious🤣above all there is no match to govinda-karishma chemistry❤

varun-sara has a good chemistry hope they are paired up again that too in a quality cinema

Coolie No 1 works for the 90s era but not for 2020

Hey, you got me all wrong 😂

TM said he doesn't want his kid inside him to die so soon so I was referring that.

If my child inside (Me) wants to have some fun, I would rather watch something with more sense even if it's comedy. Golmal or dhamaal where atleast acting and dialogue delivery saves the day.

But again, that is purely my choice and I am not pointing anyone who might have liked or enjoyed the film. Anything that helps cheeering up this damn year is a blessing. ❤️

Also, by Badlapur and kedarnath I was talking about their acting abilities and since I found them bland (sara) Ott (Varun), I was trying to say they aren't bad actors in general.

But I am glad that you , TM and others had a great time.

🤗

I just don't enjoy masala cinema. It's just not my thing.

Not judging those who enjoy it at all. Everyone has their own likings and should be free to watch whatever they want.

If I have to watch a comedy, I'd rather revisit Hera Pheri or Malaamal Weekly. I enjoy that kind of stuff.

it was a perfect time pass movie for me, most things I watch, I can't sit through or finish watching these days, it started out like that, I saw the initial train scene turned it off, came back later but finished watching it it one go and I actually was smiling through out the movie. even the ending drag scenes.

but it could have been better

Huh! Teaches me to jump to conclusions before reading through. I guess we all need to let the inner kid who loves trashy masala out now and then. I guess Varun convinced me this time to give his dad another chance. Sara's ok but still has a long way to go.

P.S : Rohit Shetty's Golmaal? Your inner kid must be really made of really strong stuff. I can take him only in small doses.

@Bold - I didn't get you.

And I guess it's all about preferences. Varun and sara , both are pretty decent actors and hence may be I had more expectation. That's all.

Coolie No.1 Sets Records On OTT

Coolie No.1 has set new records for the Amazon prime in India with its opening on the platform. It is the first big premiere for Prime as they have had big films before like Bharat and War but these have come post a theatrical release while Coolie No.1 is the first big premiere.

The highest for the Amazon platform was some web series called Mirzapur 2 which released in 2020 but Coolie No.1 has surpassed this by a distance. This is expected as Coolie No1 is fetching a 100 crore plus price for just its 130 odd minutes of content while the web series could be 300 or even 400 minutes of content for a fraction of the price.

This itself shows the huge difference in value of the two for the platform. So on one side you are smashing records but on the other side the competition is not much as far as the platform is concerned. If we look at it in box office terms then on one side is a film with 100 crore nett potential and the other is an also ran type.

The best comparison for Coolie No.1 would be against Laxmii but here its two different platforms with Hotstar having a bigger base due to the IPL cricket. It is possible that Coolie No1 may come out with a similar type of number to Laxmii as a holiday release can compensate somewhat for the lower base of the platform. It also depends on whether Amazon Prime had the same growth as Hotstar in terms of subscription in the lockdown. Laxmii was released post the IPL and that would have pushed Hotstar subscription to the highest level for the year.

The year has been a disaster but its ended on a slightly better note with Coolie No. 1 scoring big on OTT and Wonder Woman 1984 putting up decent numbers in theatres while the numbers of Telugu film Solo Brathuke So Better are awaited and they are expected to be positive also.
