Yeah, they were better. But it's not just about the whole film. They didn't get nominations in other categories either.

Dhoom 3 could've won award for Best action.

Krrish 3 for best vfx.

But Filmfare completely ignored these films.

Frankly , considering how bad those films were...They even got nominated just because they did Business.

Dhoom 3 and Krrish 3 were one of the biggest Blockbusters of 2013. Dhoom 3 was the highest grossing film of all time and it didn't get a single nomination in Filmfare that year. Krrish 3 was only nominated in one category of Best Actor for Hrithik by Filmfare.

At IIFA, again Dhoom 3 got only one nomination of Best Film. Krrish 3 got six nominations in which it won in two technical categories of Best action and special effects.

Other award functions also had the same story. Most of them were completely ignoring both the films or giving them one or two nominations for name sake.

On the other hand, Chennai Express and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani were getting nominated in every single category possible. Chennai Express and SRK were even winning some xyz ridiculous award for "Film of the year" or "Best Entertainer" stupid titles if they weren't winning Best Film or best actor award.

So what was the reason for award functions boycotting these two films?

on a diff note...Chennai express ist a great movie...but it confirms to how and what north thinks of south... Dhoom 3 is one such movie that everyone watched and also hated it . I mean i know some ppl who will watch any chillar movie and still like it...even they hated Dhoom 3.

Dhoom 3 was not liked by anyone. It collected a lot of money only because of the anticipation of the Dhoom franchise, since the first two parts were so good.

Krrish 3 was also a mediocre film that maybe only kids liked, so it made no sense to give awards to that film. Besides, with all the fudged connections, maybe the industry didn't want to validate the Roshans any further.

Besides, there were many better commercial films that year.

possibly lobbying wasn't strong.

Filmkart and YRF weren't keen on awards.

Plus when Farah SRK gang and Farhan Excel gang hijack award shows they tend to get everything.

They released nominations before Dhoom 3 had released or just released. After Guzarish not getting awards and Suzy throwing hissy fit, Filmfare and HR's relation didn't stay the same.

If Yash Chopra was alive he would've asked FF to postpone the nominations and the event, but Aditya being not that good with that department didn't bother about awards.

Other award shows just follow FF, so others also ignored these two.

There is a reason why the industry cry over not getting the first award of the season or buy all the awards of the first award show. Cause it's kind of manipulation... whoever gets the first award gets the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th even the mid-year's IIFA also.

Sorry, but I'm going to have to disagree with those of you saying that Dhoom 3 was not a liked film.

It is simply IMPOSSIBLE for a film to do lifetime collections of 260 crore nett, become an All-Time Blockbuster, and become the highest grosser of all time on negative public word of mouth! There had to be a section of the audience that liked the film.

Sure, you could say the WOM was mixed, but outright negative? No chance. I myself loved Dhoom 3. 3/4 of my family enjoyed the film (including me).

Compare it to Thugs of Hindostan: YRF, Victor, Aamir, Katrina were all involved with this film too. Even Amitabh Bachchan. But the film finished at around 130 crore nett, about HALF the lifetime collections of Dhoom 3! The reason? Because TOH had outright negative WOM. It was a clean FLOP at the box office!

As for why Dhoom 3 and Krrish 3 were ignored at award functions, it's an interesting question that I dont have the answer for. Given the fact that both films were Blockbusters, they could've received nominations. I personally didn't like Krrish 3 much, it was an average film.

Jury ne Wo movies actually dekhli hongi.
