After Laxmii debacle Amazon demands a screening of Coolie No. 1 - Page 2

You know things are messed up in a movie when a movie named "laxmmi" that promises to be in favour of trans people and has Akshay Kumar in it is declared a flop.

Laxmii is the worst diwali release this year according to this article. Poor Akki.

After attempting to watch it out of curiosity it's safe to say Laxmii was not only Hinduphobic and offensive to trans women, but it was legit awful in terms of story/songs/execution too...

It's a solid proof of Akshay's star power and popularity with the masses that it made as much money is it did in the first place, even if it did underperform a bit...

With a smaller star it would have TANKED Kalank style for sure

But sometimes bad content should get trashed accordingly.

And we cannot always blame one thing or another for the failure of some products.

I mean yes, Laxmi being trashed by social media public (I don't care about critics, those hypocrites don't matter) and its low rating in IMDB and other platforms have had reasons including the public outrage for its Hinduphobia content and the general disdain for mainstream BW ever since Sushant's death, but would it have been trashed if it was an actually good movie or even a decent one? Obviously no. Good products, even if controversial don't get trashed to this extent.

Look at Patal Lok, many were against its Hinduphobia too, but it didn't suffer from low ratings by public, because it was a good show (I had high expectations, and found it average, but still it was better than 99% of what BW produces). Or even Akki's own Mission Mangal, which had a sparked huge controversy due to the same Hinduphobia debate, but still managed to get good reactions from majority of public, because it was a decent entertainers.

What money did it make? And considering it's OTT release, are the numbers reliable?

Exactly. I loved the film. It was entertaining. Akshay and Kiara were funny and good.

I believe the numbers tbh, Akshay is an established star with a lot of fans, and they aren’t too good to be true or anything 🤷🏽‍♀️
