OTT Is Looking A Dumping Ground For Feature Films

The Covid 19 situation since March has meant many films going to OTT digital platforms and due to the poor content of all films OTT is looking like a dumping ground for feature films. The only film to survive was Dil Bechara which was more due to the death of Sushant Singh Rajput rather than the content but however it may be, it found an audience.

Dil Bechara hit 25 lakh views on the day of release which was a record for any content outside IPL matches. A web series struggles to 2-3 lakh while new films are also around similar range but there the digital release has limited promotion and they are also after a theatrical release. Also Dil Bechara was on a free for all while normally only subscribed members have access. The big IPL matches are said to go to around 40 lakh plus views.

The results may have been good for Dil Bechara but it hardly mattered as there is no recovery for the film. The other releases have been poor in content from Gulabo Sitabo to Gunjan Saxena and then there is the poor trailer of Sadak 2 which should have had a potentially wider audience than what has come before.

These films have gone to OTT as it allows an opportunity to recover the money and even profit when the scenario for cinema releases in India has no clarity and that is looking the case for some time yet. But due to how bad these films are its looking they are just being dumped on OTT as they had no chance in the theatres. the first quarter saw bad films outside Tanhaji - The Unsung Warrior while Baaghi 3 saw a good response in eastern India but after that the content has hit another low but all gone to OTT. A Gulabo Sitabo may have reached close to 40 crore nett mark as the opening may have been 5-6 crore nett but for the others a 40 crore nett number would not even come in dreams.

Sadak 2 is next in line and the trailer is poor but its not the worst ever which is being made out with all the you tube dislikes coming which are not because of the film but for other reasons. If the film actually looked good and cinemas were open then this would hardly matter as the audience would come but here neither is it good and it will not come in cinemas. The film has a low budget and with 60 crore coming from digital it will make good money for the producers.

Bollywood Anyways creates dump worthy stuff only these days. One can keep dumping one’s pathetic offering, the audience on Netflix n prime have way too much good stuff to watch ...this is not monopoly of screens etc...here the power entirely lies with audience...with one flick the movie gets changed n if not watched will eventually be removed.

Guys... Boxofficeindia is running down OTT as visits to their website isdown by 80 % ( Check by similarweb tool ) . Their business will be over if movies dont release in theatres ,as no revenue from producers who bribe and less advertising money

Dil Bechara had around 70- 85 million views on 1 st day.. and they are mentioning 2.5 million. A bunch of jokers..

OTT is a fool's paradise, everyone will live in their bubble thinking my fav's film did well.

Unless some unfortunate event creates an upset. Jaise Sushant's death made Gulabo Sitabo a flop. Nahin toh Big B ke PR bhi most viewed most viewed chillate.
