...as Sushant said? Do you think its possible for nepotism to co-exist with talent or is the industry so rooted in nepotism there's no space for talent? Which view do you subscribe to?

Tabu is also related to Shabana Azmi. Some kids genuinely are talented. That can be said for Konkona Sen Sharma. But most are just overhyped to be great actors or actresses when they are not. As Abhishek Kapoor says a good director can wing somewhat of a performance out of them and people will think it’s great because they don’t have anything better to compare it to. And unlike the 90s where there were the Juhis and Madhuris with the less talented star kids struggling like Karishma. Nepotism has taken over and their is no room for genuine talent.

Yeah and Karan Johar is the one who has spearheaded the nepotist movement, he is the proud flag-bearer of nepotism and is launching and trying to help star-kids become numero uno. The industry has become polarized in recent years, I agree.

The elitism that is rampant in Bollywood among the star kids is because of the sheer spread of nepotism. It has seeped its way down to the very roots, and has been extremely problematic for rising talent.

Again, is it possible? Yes. Would it happen? No.

Star kids get far too many benefits, and privileges because of nepotism. There's no way that they'll be willing to let it all go for the sake of someone that they don't even know.

The only way I can see some change occurring is for more production houses to be created. If Dharma says that they will only work with star kids, then let more production houses hold the condition that they will only work with outsiders. Is it a risky business? Yes, but at least it will give newcomers a chance. Whether these newcomers are worth seeing or not will be dependent on the audience.

Another thing is that we need to stop cancelling actors, and actresses based off of their first film. Rather, treat those films as a trailer of what they are capable of, not as a final verdict. Star kids will obviously get a long queue of films, but outsiders need our support for their second, and third films just as much as their first.

If that were to happen about production houses then it would be great. Also to stop privileged people taking advantage then certain directors should in my opinion stick with those production houses then. Because it is likely that if a directors film with outsiders becomes successful/well acclaimed that a production house *cough dharma* would try and steal that director for one of the star kids.
