Verbal attacks to North-Easters are rampant and are like daal-roti matter in Delhi or few places. Even here in NA, when people want to rent their house, they first look for someone from their 'biraadri', and all of them, I repeat, ALL OF THEM make a note that they are not going to rent it out to someone with Black skin or sometimes to South Asians irrespective of what jobs they have. A student with unstable income but from their own line is preferable than a Black or South Asian person with high paying job. Our behaviour changes wrt race, and that itself is racism. We dont have to go kill them in order to prove the point.

Of course the intensity of racism is much stronger in case of BLM movement. But that does not mean we are not clean. Yes, I donk think we as a group, 'hate' them like some anti-black people do. But Hasan Minaj's point stand valid. And yes, I know the difference between caste and race. The only race towards which we are not condescending is White.

Not sure why he said something like we want to be like them, I dont know who from us want to be like them. We dont aspire to be like those whom we don't want us to be associated with...........

Well u r actually right.. More appropriate word for the kind of racism prevalent in India is 'prejudice'..

Its not hatred.. Its a prejudice against something Or someone thats not familiar to us or not like us.. And since it seems unfamiliar people dont trust easily.

Having said that.. Indians are also the ones who welcome people wholeheartedly once they get to know the person and the initial mistrust disappears.

But ya.. It exists

Not really, the second survey had a different question, not the same one. Not sure what you're reading. Here's the para.

The second survey was more direct, asking whether respondents had seen or experienced racism. All answers that were not a direct “no not at all”, were considered as a check next to racism.

It clearly says a bigger share of people in India experienced racism compared to the other countries.

Indians do understand racism. People do experience it every step of the way. As children, as adolescents, as people applying for jobs, as people applying for marriages. People experience racism at every corner. Just because religion and caste prejudice exists, doesn't mean race is a non-entity.

I'm really not sure what you're talking about. People experience racism every step of life? How? As far as I know, all Indians belong to the "South Asian" race category. There are really no (or negligible number) of Blacks, East Asians, Middle Easterners etc. who are Indian citizens.

What you said is bull shite and shows that you have no clear idea of what 'racism' means. People don't experience "racism" in India (except the North easterners). Casteism? Yes. Communalism? Hell yeah.

But racism? No. The reason is simple: there are really no "races" in India. Also, simply considering dark skin colour as less attractive for marriage isn't racism. Its colorism.

I would say that colorism and racism are linked. Yes most people in India are South Indian but racism can still exist even if there aren’t too many other races there. My friend travelled to South Korea to teach English and overheard people using terms with negative connotations regarding her race, wouldn’t you say that’s racism even though South Korea is predominantly Korean. I also have relatives in India that say negative things about other races, that’s racism as well. Racism exists in each country.

That is racism since Koreans are East Asian and your friend is South Asian. There are two different races here. But in India, fair and dark skinned people are all of the same race.

That's called colorism and 'warped beauty standards'. NOT racism.

Amazed at the number of people on this thread who are clueless about the meaning of the term "racism", equating it with casual colorism and what not. 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

I guess it only proves my point about Indians not knowing what the f*** race or racism is.
