Why do Madhuri always get sidelined in two heroine films?

She was terrible in Dil To Pagal Hai. She played the lead opposite SRK but Karishma owned the film and even sidelined SRK. Madhuri played supporting in Devdas. It was great Mujras and all that but in the film Aishwarya overshadowed her. Infact it was the film which made Aishwarya a global star overnight. Madhuri again got sidelined.

Shocking was how Karishma totally sidelined Madhuri in Dil Toh Pagal Hai.

Never felt Karishma overshadowed anybody in DTPH ..dont even think the role deserved a national award. She was as good as others..not more. Only reason it's hyped is that SRK, Madhuri were already acknowledged as very good actors and Karishma was actually a surprise package from whom people didn't expect much..more so coz it was a supporting role.

And similarly Madhuri's was a supporting role in Devdas, Aishwarya was the heroine. Both were apt for their roles.

You are wrong... and Madz stole the show in Lajja despite a small role...She was praised in the recent Dhamaal movie as well. The same goes for Pukaar and Ram Lakhan.

With Madz it is that people always expect her to act well so if anyone opposite her even acts decent, she gets praised... like Preity in YEH RASTE HAIN PYAR KE!

I dont think she got sidelined in Devdas. Both were equally good.

But yes, Dil toh Pagal Hai definitely. Karishma stole the show!

Why was Madhuri not at Cannes then? Devdas took Ash to global recognition. Even some Hollywood stars like Beyoncé said she watched the movie and loved Ash.

Nobody cared about Chandramakhi. Again the same old crap by Madhuri - being sleazy and horny expressions. Yawn

among the super hamming of srk and totally lifeless plastic cringy acting of Aishwarya, Madhuri was the only one to look out for her performance and was a relief in that OTT Devdas filled with srk-aish annoying hamming throughout

In her 40 minutes' role in Devdas she ate Aish alive with her superlative performance, and also in face to face scene with Aishwarya as well...and the world knows how people only remember and cherish Madhuri's songs only from Devdas.

Those who feel Karishma overshadowing others in DTPH is same as saying Vickey overshadowed RK in Sanju. Both had the authorbacked character to draw sympathy from the audience that's why people confuse character with performances.

And to me Madhuri stole the show in DevDas. But yeah Madz has been overshadowed by many in her films. For example, Konkona stole the show in Aaja Nachle. Vijay Raaz and Huma outdid her in Dedh Ishqiya. Juhi completely stole the show in Gulaab Gang. There are many I can't recall atm.

Overshadowing someone doesn't necessarily (not always tho) that person was bad or anything.

You literally gave only 2 examples, and concluded it as a fact.😆

Karishma did steal the thunder in Dil To Pagal Hai from SRK-Madhuri, but it DID NOT impact Madhuri's role or performance at all.
Madhuri nailed her role too and I would say, she looked her best in the film.

As far as Devdas in concerned, it was a good ensemble film with decent performances by all. Also, I don't think Madhuri-Aish were ever pitted against each other for Devdas. They both did their parts and delivered great.

Whenever Madhuri has appeared in shorter-roles, she has stolen the limelight from others be it Lajja, Devdas or that mediocre Ye Raste Hain Pyar Ke . Even her "guest appearance" in Bade Miya Chote Miya was hyped so much that the makers made official posters that included her in the film.

So, NO. She never got sidelined during her prime.
