A large part of good choreography is the ability to make the person doing your steps look good and for them to do it properly

Let's count the background dancers too, they danced with grace which Alia couldn't. Definitely Remo tried his best to bring out the best of Alia but her range was limited to this extent only.

Paying public doesn't seem to have loved Alia's dancing or Kalank. She has neither the technical skill nor the oomph to make it work. Her forte is acting. Not sure why she even feels the need to be accepted as something else.

ETA. Actually, I have a thought about it. KJo did a number on her mind re: her weight to the point she looks gaunt now. I expect he told her she needed to be able to do the quintessential BW heroine type role as well to be considered successful.

I thought Jai Jai Shiv Shankar would win, it had two of the best dancers who did extremely complex steps with such ease.

This is so unfair. If it's because of KJo, then he should be ashamed for promoting mediocrity. "Ghar more pardaisiya" has bad choreography. Definitely Ghungroo is better but Jai Jai Shiv Shankar is better than these.

The award is for best choreography and not who is best dancer.

Meh. Alia is a bad dancer but that doesn’t mean the choreography is bad. I mean like someone pointed the choreographer won for BM as well when madam ji is a pathetic dancer herself. If PD a great dancer and choreographer can give a Suraiyya last year and people can identify Kat separately from the choreography then it’s the same the other way too. All said, I think War deserved the choreography award more. I mean I love the dance steps more. HR just made it better.
