BOI not giving clear Dabangg 3 first day figures.

Dabangg 2 (Hindi) collected around 22-23 crore nett on day one as it got hit the ongoing problem across the country of the Citizenship Bill which has caused protests and violence in practically all pasrt of the country leading to cinemas remaining shut at many places and generally less footfalls at theaters due to the law and order issue.

The number is low for such a big film but if the problems are factored in then its a good number as the film would have lost around 20% of its business. If we take 28 crore nett apprx as fair value then that is probably under the expectations of the trade but when a film looks a bit like a South type film then you are risking an under performance in Delhi, Punjab and Kolkata and this is there even if we allow for the issues. If we look at the South films which have put up numbers like Bahubali, 2.0 and Saaho they did not have a South look and the ones which have not done that well like Syeraa Narasimha Reddy and KGF (barring Mumbai / Maharashtra circuit which is much more receptive to South type films) had that South feel.

This Delhi, Punjab and Kolkata under performance has come from the likes of Rowdy Rathore and Singham which also had that South feel though they eventually held at a level due to the content. This first Dabangg had that rare feel of an actual raw Hindi action film and for that film it was North leading the way with huge numbers for that time.

The external problems facing the film has made it essential for the film to get good growth on Saturday and considering its a mass film growth is not easy. Even at 28 crore nett it would have needed to show an upturn but it could have got away with less growth. It is has lower costs in production in terms of the last few Salman Khan films like Race 3 and Bharat though they had rebates coming as were shot abroad but these lower costs can also been seen in the product and the scale does push collections in multiplexes of some circuits. It is crucial for the film that the trend is upwards with even 15-20% growth giving it a chance.

The film has been pretty much written off like a Thugs Of Hindostan, Zero, Saaho (Hindi) and Housefull 4 but Saaho (Hindi) did very well and Housefull 4 did extremely well and it remains to seen which way Dabangg 3 goes.

External factors like riots and controversies do affect a movie.....Dilwale ke time per because of SRK's statement there were rioting at the halls where the movie was playing....it did affect the outcome....and at that time Sallu fans were making fun tht hum bahane bana rahe hain...but its a fact...if there are riots going on in the city...no one in their right mid would go and risk their well being and that too for a movie...koi medical emergency ho ya fir koi exam ho toh people will take risk..who will take risk for a movie?....most definitely the opening day and maybe later also the riots will affect the out come of D3....its common sense yaar....its not rocket science.....same way controversy affect the movie in a positive way...because people get curious ki aisa kya hai movie mein...

#Dabangg3 hits ₹ 20 cr+ on Day 1 thanks largely to #SalmanKhan’s star power... Day 1 biz would’ve easily been much, much higher had it not been for the protests... Resultantly, biz kept fluctuating throughout the day... A substantial sum was lost due to this reason...
