Has star power trumped content in Bollywood?

People say content is king, but just looking at the recent examples of Paanipat vs. Pati, Patni Aur Woh, I would say this is not entirely true. Paanipat got great reviews but because of Arjun Kapoor(or so most people claim) the film flopped big time. Pati Patni Aur Woh got average reviews, but the presence of Kartik Aryaan gave the film solid numbers.

So, is star power still a dominant factor in Bollywood?

Content doesn't equal to what critic's say. It's how the audience receives it.

Starpower will give you the opening and until Sunday. From Monday onwards, it's the film.

Race 3 did 300 crores solely on Salman's stardom. Any other actor and it would have been a collosal disaster. Thugs did 185-190 crores worldwide and Zero did around 140 crores iirc.

But Kabir Singh, a movie that the critics had no interest in saying anything - apart from bashing it for social reasons - went over 300 crores worldwide. It didn't have a superstar. So, see, content matters?

Isn't it quite contrary of late???
