Javed A lashes out at Shekhar K; Asks him to visit a psychiatrist

In this world of social media where every move of a celebrity is tracked, sometimes realities so horrifying come to surface that people are left in shock. As far as the personal lives of celebrities are concerned, there is not even a shadow which is left untouched. All their fears are put to showcase and others have the liberty to comment on the same.

Recently, film-maker Shekhar Kapur met with such an incident. He took to his Twitter account to write about his dilemma of life and penning down the same he wrote, “Started life as a refugee of Partition. Parents gave everything to make a life for kids. Was always in fear of intellectuals’. They made me feel insignificant. Small. Then suddenly embraced me after my films. I still fear them. Their embrace is like a bite of a snake. Still a refugee.”

This stand of Shekhar Kapur irked lyricist Javed Akhtar and he voiced out his opinion. In his comments he questioned why Shekhar still calls himself a refugee and when he fails to understand the intentions, he even requested Shekhar Kapur to meet a psychiatrist as there is no shame in doing so.

He wrote,“Who are these intellectuals who embraced you and you found that embrace like a snake’s bite? Shyam Benegal, Adoor Gopal Krishna, Ram Chandra Guha? Really ? . Shekhar saheb you are not well. You need help. Come on, there is no shame in meeting a good psychiatrist.”

No one cares....but if it was Javed Akhter saying that he felt like a refugee....hell would have broken loose by now.

Why such a sudden emotional outburst from Jhadu?

The man says he doesnt feel accepted by the "intellectuals". What's so infuriating about that that such tweets had to be made by Jhadu?

And one day I would like to know how Ramachandra Guha became an intellectual. I've been following this stuff for sometime and he seems to have suddenly broken out on the scene when that book describing Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi and Kallenbach's uh relationship came out......This was around the same time that the govt of India bought incriminating letters of/for and about Gandhi for a fortune and proceeded to classify or destroy them.....what they did exactly with the letters is anyone's guess!!

So to cut a long story short this Guha described how he was right there on the scene and he saw with his own eyes how vaseline was used on corns....and nothing else....Really is this how one gets counted as an intellectual in India today??

It is ironic that Javed Akthar cud not catch the thing at first and a common man got it. Even after he learnt it he decided to stick by his opinion.

Akhtar is not wrong.

And all the people eager to support Kapur because he is on "their side" of the political aisle, in what universe does Kapur, the maker of "Elizabeth" among other films, not qualify as the exact type of English-speaking intellectual you all claim to despise? He has made a career out of playing the intellectual and getting the support of intellectuals, and now he suddenly "feels like a refugee"? What does that even mean?
