I was not specifically targeting your friend but a lot of people would literally judge (and often trash) a movie because it is not “kids friendly”. That doesn’t make sense at all and it means that adults are going to pass on content driven movies just because it is too mature for their children? Thank god movies are not kids friendly otherwise we would need to bear with shitty content.
Well I agree with you.
There are "rape" scenes, violent death scenes, kinky songs with sexual content and I have seen people in India going to such movies with their kids. So what defines, kid friendly and not kid friendly is kind of weird esp In India due to the lack of proper guidelines I guess.
As for being a game changer, she definitely is. As mentioned before she made her own path, that in itself is a game changer. Last few years , the role of a heroine was reduced to mere songs, dance, and an insignificant, indifferent role which could be done by anyone..
she broke that norm and made sure that in actresses too can be the hero of a movie and they too can be the lead demanding screen space and money. Today producers are willing to invest in a movie with the actress as the main lead, willing to pay more than the male star, willing to take that risk. That is a game changer.
It may or may not succeed but at least the rough path has been carved. Sridevi was the last one who was able to bring that into movies but it faded. Now I see only Vidya Balan and Kangana doing it. Unfortunately not many movies of Vidya are coming and the rest aren't even interested to think in that direction.
Anushka tried In NH10 but she had produce it herself. Tapsee has started a bit but again she needs a support system to get there.
That's why Kangana is a game changer.
