Taapsee Pannu says, ‘Aged actors refused to do Saand ki Aankh’

Taapsee Pannu and Bhumi Pednekar recently wrapped up their awaited film, ‘Saand ki Aankh’. The two will be seen playing the roles of granny sharpshooters Chandro Tomar, 87 and her sister-in-law Prakashi Tomar, 82. The makers released the first look of the film and trolls couldn’t help but wonder why age-appropriate actors were not cast.

Taapsee however shut all trolls with a question of her own. A report in Deccan Chronicle states, she went on to ask the trolls why “I was never questioned when I am 30-year-old and I do college characters. I was never questioned why college kids were not cast for such role.”

However, later she did reveal the reason behind her and Bhumi being cast in the film, “Apparently, what we got to know later was that actors who were close to that age didn’t want to do this film.”

She added, “But when a younger lot is playing an older character, I don’t understand why people have a problem with it. However, I got to know through the producers that actually actresses who were close to that age had refused to do the film.”

The film will follow Chandro Tomar and Prakashi Tomar’s journey into becoming the Shooter Dadi’s. Directed by Tushar Hiranandani and produced by Anurag Kashyap productions, Saand Ki Aankh will hit the screens in Diwali 2019.

I genuinely thought the make-up was bad. They were NOT looking convincing as old aged women.

And I'd say bollocks to the claim that there were no senior actresses ready to take this role. Especially when talented actresses like Neena Gupta had to attempt using SM to get work.

Because 30 year olds can pass off as early 20s and people at that age are still in college.

She could also have played someone in late 30s and no one would have pointed fingers.

But to play someone double your age? They looked ridiculously artificial with all the prosthetic makeup.

I am having a difficult time believing older actress would turn down such a role. Actresses like Seema Pahwa and Neena Gupta would have been a delight to watch in these roles.

I agree, but even the director confirmed that people who were in that age group refused to play those roles, senior actresses refused to play the role, and taapsee is just reiterating that

whatever but the make has been terrible. They should have gotten a better team for the prosthetics.

I agree, it could have been better......the actors did their part, I feel. it will be the makeup and costume department i.e the production value of the film might pull it down...

Seema biswas, Neena Gupta, Surekha Sikri so many names come to mind..... I guess the makers wanted today's actors to do it and didn't approach the senior talented lot...

I think makers approached Madhuri, rani, Sush types n not the real old peeps

As if ... 😂 .. I bet director didn't even approach the actual seniors .. Movies are business and they wanted leads who are clicking with today's audiece and this is what we get!
