'I am suffering from clinical depression': Tanmay Bhat

The former All India Bakchod CEO took to Instagram to share how the #MeToo controversy has taken a toll on his mental and physical health.

Mumbai-based comedian Tanmay Bhat who rose to fame with comedy collective All India Bakchod is the latest victim of clinical depression.

The young artist and entrepreneur was suspended from his position as CEO of the company last October following complaints of not acting against sexual harassment allegations made regarding his colleague Utsav Chakraborty.

In May 2019, AIB had issued a statement announcing that Bhat would no longer be their CEO.

On Sunday, Bhat took to Instagram and uploaded a series of videos sharing how the events after his suspension took a toll on his physical and mental health

TVF relied on talent, whilst AIB relied on nepotism.

No wonder.

Oh , I have always been a TVF fan, but I was referring to the fact that - despite TVF's founder being among the first to be accused during the #metoo (actually i think it was much before that), and stepping down , they managed to bounce back. That did affect TVF, you could see their content quality and viewership getting affected for a year or so. But they hung in there and had a revival, especially with shows like YHMF.

In comparison, AIB imploded due to accusations of inaction over a complaint against an actor who had a small role in some series of theirs.

I agree...it's weird isn't it? how TVF founder was accused still they hung around..

and AIB just disappeared..I think they didn't deserve this..the company didn't need to close..

I don’t know anything about that TVF group. With AIB the three other founders got mad at Tanmay for knowing about the harassment and not acting accordingly. Rohan Joshi wrote a log essay on how disappointed and embarrassed he was that his company ended up being as bad and as pathetic as all those AIB made fun of for years. I think being basically outed as hypocrites was hard for all of them to handle even though it was all on Tanmay for being complicit. On top of that either Khamba or Shakya had his own issues with an ex accusing him of assault. They decided to go on hiatus and put AIB on hold until a couple of months ago the whole thing got dissolved. Social media rumor was that as friends they had shut out Tanmay too. But I know when he posted his recent video at least Rohan replied with a message of support. So not sure about their personal equations.

All about timing. TVF happened before MeToo wave hit India so they recovered in time. AIB was a direct fallout in the heat of things. The public outrage was at its peak. Incidentally AIB had a whole 'we were better than TVF when it comes to protecting women' stance when TVF allegations came out which doubled down on them from the TVF fans. TVF is infact more problematic than AIB in my opinion since they completely denied the existence of the woman in the first place.
