it's the directors vision obviously. but what confuses me is that isnt SLB gay? so it probably is not made in the intention for these types of "fantasies"

Age gaps between the actor and actresses has been around since the start of the film industries and is still going on. So I'm not shocked or appalled like some people may be about it. Despite her looks Alia is an adult and this isn't the first time as age gaps are always happening in Indian films, they are just not typically addressed as this film plans to do apparently, so I guess I don't get some people reaction? Why are people acting like this is the first time or even uncommon? If age gaps makes one uncomfortable I would not recommend Indian cinema for that person, it's like in almost ever other movie.

I can only guess it because Alia has always looked so much younger then her age. If it was another actress her age I don't think people would have such a reaction.

age is just a number, but when you have an actress who looks like a teenager, it is disgusting actually. it actually creates an acceptable mindset. and subjects young teens to fall prey to older men as love interests in real society. movies have tremendous influence on the audience.The fact that there is a 30 year age gap between them is not ok to present on screen any more imo..because you are crossing the line there imo.

Never said age is just a number and very disgusted with that phrase, I firmly believe it's only acceptable if the age gap is between two consenting adults obviously, no matter how disgusting some people may view it, if the gap is between two consenting adults I would say whatever go ahead. Alia is a 26 years old woman, no matter how young she looks, that is a fact. How am I crossing the line if I am saying I am fine with this age gap because it's between two consenting adults? You have your opinion I have mine but I think in fact you are crossing the line by saying that.

As for what else you have said, I admit I have never heard of that happening due to the the movies main pairing having an age gap, so that is news to me if what you saying is true. If that is indeed the case then I agree such films then should not be made.

Age is just a number in general. I actually dont understand how you are disgusted with that phrase, when in fact it is just a number generally speaking. and where am I crossing the line? (and obviosuly i am speaking about two consenting adults! no one is talking about children here, come on!) It is my opinion that the age gap and how they appear visually as a couple is crossing the line in terms of what is acceptable. thats my opinion and has no offense to you.

we are not talking about real intimate relationships here btw, we are talking about movies and what is portrayed on screen. you are going in a whole different direction here! She is playing a character, and that can be justified by the story so I will not argue against that.

However..the fact is that visually, she does look very young (I am not talking about her biological age). and movies have influence on an audience.

I am talking about this influence. if something on screen is visually portrayed as acceptable on screen where the love interest does look quite underage, it poses a problem to young girls and teens.

and I have a problem with this, you may not-thats fine. but i am in no way crossing a line here.

go date your daughter's friends some day. I know this may be a serious case of feminism and what not. But if it is portrayed as normal on screen, you are telling the male audience that this is normal as well.

Now if you dont care about the impact this has on women, then there is no argument here to make.

I have never been fine with that phrase due to the fact that age is not just a number, only when we reach adult age are such relationships acceptable, there should be no such unclearness on that. Real intimate relationships off or onscreen it doesn't matter, I am only fine if it's between two consenting adults who are the couple, no matter how gross some see it. If Alia was portraying someone younger then an adult or got this role when she she was younger then an adult, then I would for sure have a problem with this film and raise strong objection. You and others find this pairing disgusting that is fine, I won't force you to think otherwise! I understand your perspective, you are looking at it from a non influence/impact point and I get that! I was just trying to make sure you understand where I am coming from on my views toward it from obviously a very different perspective.

My opinions are developed due to a change I want to see in the industry, and the fact that huge age gap still exists and stories repeatedly glamorizing relationships between an older man and younger woman personally upsets me, b/c I thought we were moving beyond that as a society. The fact that she does look super young just enhances this negation in my point of view. There is certainly a huge impact on what is presented in the media/movies on the indian audience. The fact that she is 26, no one knows that. but visually presenting a very young looking girl with an older man and presenting/glamorizing this as acceptable influence mindsets at the end of the day, and impacts the culture of relationship dynamics which sadly targeted in opposition of older women.

In terms of characters and stories, I have no idea what this film is about. In today's time, no one realistically will find the story unappealing if it is done correctly.

and just to add-this reminds me of what srk said in an interview on romancing younger women on screen. He answered, look at donald trump and his wife are so many years apart (something of that sort)-that justified him being able to romance women half his age on screen (f that is not influence, i dont what it is)--this is the point im trying to make.

No confusion, then - maybe he's able to grasp the concept intellectually, but doesn't feel how nonsensical it is.
