Ananya Panday is a honeymoon baby, says mom Bhavna: ‘People calculated if she was conceived before marriage’

Actor Ananya Panday’s mother, Bhavna Panday has provided some interesting new facts about her daughter, ahead of her film debut on Friday. Ananya will star opposite Tara Sutaria and Tiger Shroff in Karan Johar’s Student of the Year 2.

Speaking to SpotboyE, Bhavna said that Ananya is ‘literally a honeymoon baby’. “We were married in January 1998, and she was born in October. People were actually calculating if I conceived her before or after marriage. We still had to discover each other and then we had this beautiful baby. She has been with us from our first anniversary,” she said.

Bhavna said that they took to the internet to settle on a name for Ananya, because they wanted a Sanskrit name. Ananya means matchless, she said. Ananya is the daughter of actor Chunky Panday, and has often been asked about nepotism in the run up to the release.

She told IANS, "I am 20 and this was my dream all my life. So, it's not fair for people to say that I am not allowed to have a dream because I belong from a certain family," She continued, "I hope people watch the film and then make judgement. I will be okay with whatever judgement they'd make after that.”

She said nepotism exists in many industries and not just Bollywood. “I am very lucky that I got this chance and audition... I feel internally, I will never be feeling guilty in anyway because I auditioned for the movie twice. I was work-shopping with Punit (Malhotra) for a year after that. So, from inside I worked for this and I don't have that guilt in me,” she said, adding, “My dad has worked so hard to earn a name in the industry and to gain respect. So, I don't want to take away anything from him. I don't want to be ashamed to be his daughter...”

Ananya will next be seen in Pati Patni Aur Woh, opposite actor Kartik Aaryan.
