Sonam Kapoor has been quizzed many times about the nepotism prevailing in Bollywood. But this time, the 33-year-old actress broke down the meaning of the word nepotism and shared her views on the subject on Arbaaz Khan's chat show Pinch.

On the show, Arbaaz asked Sonam to react to a tweet that said, "Ten years in the industry yet you don't know how to act Pathetic #nepotism."

Sonam explained the meaning of nepotism. She said, "I have been in the industry for 11 years. Thank you for following me and knowing how long I have been there. I want to explain what nepotism really means. Everybody thinks that it's a relative of a person. Nepotism actually means to get a job through any connection. I think people have misunderstood it or are using the word for their own benefit, to put other people down."

She added, "My father didn't come from an illustrious family. He has worked in the industry for 40 years and he has worked really hard only for his children and if I don't take advantage of his hard work, which he has done for us, I think that will be a little disrespectful towards his work because every man or a woman, a mother or a father works for their children."

Sonam was last seen alongside father Anil Kapoor in the film Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga. The film was lauded by critics and the audience alike.

The actress will next be seen in The Zoya Factor. The film will also star Dulquer Salmaan.

This is easily the most bizarre explanation of nepotism I have ever seen😆 I don't fault people for using their connections but Sonam takes it to quite a silly level😆

Not really Breaking News for anybody but Sonam Kapoor has to be one of the dumbest people on planet earth. What kinda logic is this?! Taking advantage of your father's connection even with your zero talent is exactly nepotism. I think in the same interview she said she doesn't remember a time her movies weren't hit and she wasn't praised for her performances. This is the Men-In-Black memory wipe-flash moment x100.
