The only actors whose walks are copied by guys are Sanjay Dutt and Salman Khan. Ranveer has a long way to go to reach that stature.

This is not the first or last time people will imitate a movie character or celebrity. I don't see why it is a problem now? I am curious to know why the OP finds people imitating this problematic.

That is the whole point of trends. People try things that are not their thing.

As far as I know, Mumbai gullies are very much in India. Where did aping the west come from?

If you mean rapping is western then it comes from spoken word tradition that is intrinsically East African. It evolved into rap and hip hip in the USA amidst Africans and immigrants. Today forms of rap are found in every part of the world. Each region has infused their own local spin and flavor. If they ape gully boy, they will be aping a rap style that is quintessentially Mumbaikar.
