What is the point of going to high ranked unis if you want to go into acting? This question is directed towards starkids. Many people would say its a good thing that they are well educated but they don't know that these unis have limited seats available and these starkids have really strong Personal Statement and essays which help their case in comparison to other normal students. Why waste and maaro someone's haq if you don't want to anything with the degree in future?

I honestly don't get this argument at all. It is a person's right to go into any university in this world if that institution of knowledge accepts him.
I don't think I can convince you, but let's try!

Yes, they do have an advantage because of their wealth, much like all wealthy people. Yet, you won't say that mulesh Ambani's kids are wasting a seat in premier institutes, even though getting actual experience of their jobs would be of far more benefit to them and I am sure theycan afford better proffesors at home. It is a matter of prestige.
Secondly, these actors actually provide far more to the unis than most people, because they probably give loads of donations and recognition to the university too.
Lastly, no one is under any obligation to only practice what they studied. You see iitians directly going for MBAs, no one blames them, because in one way or the other, that degree matters and they worked for it. These celebs worked for it too.
It isn't 'easy' getting into Columbia even if you are wealthy, you need atleast some performance from your side. Sara wasn't a legacy either. And even if it is easy, it is because of the schools they go to which are known for excellent education. Would you say they are wasting a seat by going there too? And what if they actually wanted to study something else?

The more you think about it, the deeper the rabbit hole becomes. It does not make sense morally, and economically to deny someone education.

Also, your main fallacy lies in accepting that all btown celebs do something different in college. Jahnvi and Aryan study film. Shraddha did a lot of film courses and participated in dance groups. This probably provides more experience than a guy with a petrochemical engineering degree planning to actually work, trust me, it is radically different.

I could go on and on, but I hope you get my point.

Advance happy new year btw

Its pretty pathetic to argue on this, regardless of profession, basic education is must and everyone should get it.
I can't believe some of the BW families allowed/encouraged their kids not to complete their graduation !!! Terrible.

People here aren't getting my point. What would an actor do with a degree in business management? It would just mean that they wasted a seat over someone who might be more deserving.

If given an opportunity everyone would want to at least be associated with a high ranked uni if possible. I mean what if their acting career didn't work out. Atleast I'm safe the other way. Plus nowadays people also have this class thingy..if they belong to a certain group have certain friends who also may be highly qualified atleast you don't feel ashamed. I mean this is the basic reason and it's okay. You can't expect celebs to be gods. They are humans and have their needs as well. Off course there could be some celebs who genuinely like studies. I've seen ppl like this who are very studious but have joined a creative stream.

Bhaiyya ji I clearly tried to counter that in my post. What's the use of asking questions if you don't accept the answer.

They earned their seat,its life.
A lot of people don't end up doing what they study for, they didn't waste their seats. They earned them in some way, the experience matters for them. And many people end up doing something other than what they study, doesn't mean what they studied is wasted.

What seats? They are going to mega expensive universities. They will take anyone with money. They don't do the desi quota seat thing. And the nepo white people have been doing the same for ages. George Bush jr was a bad student but still got into Harvard and Yale. Besides actors have so many other side businesses. Nobody lives on acting alone. They need some book smarts to not get robbed by their managers.

Choosing a specialization during undergrad/grad and taking a different career path...that can happen to many non actors too... and what if their BW career doesn't fly ? They would have a back up to consider.
And educational experience/exposure of undergrad/grad always helps in building up their personalities so cannot say its wasted even if they switch their career.

What's the guarantee that a normal student studying for a degree in business management will not end up being a model or a photohrapher or a baker as their profession?
