I tried watching PYAASA since HIRANI loved the movie, I couldn't BEAR it, got bored and turned it off. It wasn't raw and looked put on.

I am. I was a little kid when I watched a lot of his movies on Doordarshan.

Even though I was too young to understand some of his serious movies, thanks to my parents' love for Hindi cinema and music, I too got to watch and appreciate his movies - Pyaasa, Kagaz Ke Phool, which was so beautiful and tragic, Sahib Biwi aur Ghulam, Aar Paar, Mr and Mrs 55...great film maker.

The music in his movies too would be fantastic...Dekhi Zamaane ki yaari, bicchde sabhi baari baari 😭

Yeh duniya agar mil bhi jaaye to kya hai...

I love his movies. Although I never liked him in comedies for some reason.

Me. I think he is very handsome too. My fav movie is Kgaz ke Phool. Yes it is depressing and yes it is self pitying but I love watching it. Like Vicky said at the round table, Guru Dutt flirted with sadness and melancholy so beautifully in that movie. Saheb Biwi aur ghulam is another favorite but for me that is more of a Meena Kumari movie rather than a Guru Dutt one. Plus all the child widow drama puts me off a little
