Went to vacation in Italy and if my parents could have afforded it I would have 100% gotten married there. Easy to find scenic locations without the trash and the random people staring. Like I definitely saw a not so great part of Rome with all the graffiti and barely any Italian people loitering around but it was still peaceful and safe. For A Listers the anonymity helps.

Because they can afford it? Also, helps them control the media frenzy and maybe avoid calling Bollywood folks they dislike to see at their wedding. It is a Private affair after all.

Destination weddings are perfect for celebrities.

They don't have to invite people they don't want because they can play it as a private event. Nobody wants to go to destination weddings anyway so they don't care about not being invited.

They also avoid the possible embarrassment of having a wedding in town and big celebrities not showing up. Unless you get a turnout like Sonam's wedding, people are going to make fun of you.
