Padmaavat was one of the biggest hits of
Bollywood in 2018. The makers faced an
uphill battle for its release as the film was
surrounded by many controversies.
However, Padmaavat emerged victorious at
the box-office when it released on 25
January this year.
In Padmaavat, Shahid Kapoor played the
role of Maharawal Ratan Singh. But
according to a report in a leading daily,
Baahubali star Prabhas was Sanjay Leela
Bhansali's first choice. The report claims
that Bhansali was so impressed by his
performance in Baahubali that he felt
Prabhas would have been the perfect fit for
his character. At the time, Prabhas was
preparing for the sequel of Baahubali.
Although, he was interested in
collaborating with a director of Bhansali's
stature, rumours suggest the role and the
story of the film didn't impress him enough
to come on board.
Shahid Kapoor's role in the film was
secondary compared to Deepika Padukone
and Ranveer Singh's which is why Prabhas
wasn't too keen on the film. The actor
reportedly wanted a role that was nothing
less than Deepika's in Padmaavat. After
getting turned down by Prabhas, the
makers approached Shahid who accepted
the part.
Prabhas will next be seen in Saaho where
he is paired opposite Shraddha Kapoor.
