Vidya Balan confirms playing Indira Gandhi in a web series.

Vidya Balan is all set to win audiences
playing the role of former Prime Minister
Indira Gandhi in a web series. Vidya will
portray the role of the eminent politician in
a web series based on Sagarika Ghose's
book, Indira: India's Most Powerful Prime
Minister. Though earlier it was said that the
same would be made in a film, Vidya
reportedly mentioned the reason why it
would now be made in a web series.
Confirming the same, Vidya said in an
interview with a daily, "There is too much
material for it to be made into a film. So, we
decided to turn it into a web series. We
don't know how many seasons we will be
allotting to it. We are in the process of
putting together a team.
The show will reportedly be produced by
Ronnie Screwvala. The web series may take
a while as the material is still being put
together. When quizzed if the makers
would seek permissions from the Gandhi
family before they begin filming, Vidya said
that won't be done as that they already
have the rights of the book. It would be
interesting to see Vidya play such an
important character in her workspace.
