Problem with Raju Hirani

I know he is considered best director, I like his movies.

Overall I am satisfied with his work.

I have one problem which is irriitating me

I dont have words to express...lol. It felt like PK to me...u know PK was filled with that music...when PK use to move...for example that scene where he was pasting poster, Sanju had a same feeling

Light comedy...mixed with serious topic...sometimes it toofa...sometimes in sex in car...now it was ghapachak...

He is getting predictable.

His movies look the same ...no matter what the topic is

There is lack of seriousness...passion...greatness

He needs to now move to next level

If a topic is serious then keep it serious...no need to make every movie light hearted

I know where u are coming from but it is time to experiment...predictability will eventually catch up

This was ur last time..Ranbir saved the movie and interest in Sanjay Dutt maybe

Stop ur nonsense of trying to infuse fun and comedy in every issue

You are now coming of as a Farm chicken...standard stuff...

Himmo enjoys Desi chicken...specially cared and brought up in home setting.

lol

anyway

Bookmark this...i think his style of movie making is starting to pakao people now

The problem I have with Raju Hirani movies is 1stly he copies a lot from other movies. Even jokes are copied.
2ndly , he always has some pitiable pathetic character in his movies to create the tears, which seems too fake
3rdlly he believes in whitewashing criminals

I don't understand why he is even considered a good director.

After Sanju, I don't have faith in Raju Hirani as an audience. And the over rated collection of his movies, it's a pandora's Box really.

sanju was an average movie and I am also to be blamed for watching this movie and helping it gross 300 crs which it does not deserve

So I checked his Wiki page.
Munna bhai movies were great. I have no complaints with them.
3 Idiots- definitely my fav movie out of the lot- but heavily inspired from Chetan Bhagat's novel 5 point someone. Funnily I read the novel way before the movie released and I liked the movie more than his novel coz it dealt with additional issues and tbh it was funnier though thapads to Vidhu Vinod chopra for not accepting that it was an adaptation coz movie had same jokes too from the novel and not just scenarios.
PK- This is where the problem started imo. PK was a khichdi. People who made the movie OMG knew exactly what to do with a theme like that, problem isn't about comedy, OMG also had it but about the treatment, don't reduce the element of seriousness to a joke, Heck! I still don't know why did he keep a one sided love track between PK and Anushka. That's just dumb.
As for Sanju, everybody knows it is not a movie but an advertisement campaign for Sanjay Dutt. Raju Hirani's worst imo. Raju Hirani is famous for that excellent repeat value in his movies which he tried to put in this movie too with gags like Ghapaghap like you mentioned but unfortunately, atleast in my case, it didn't work.

Anyway, imo, It's okay to use comedy as a tool to talk about serious issues for example Hannah Gadsby's Nannette on Netflix, such a tight powerful set but it is not okay to reduce to jokes which Hirani kinda did in his previous 2 movies.

the movie is the third highest grossing movie of all time, it must have done something right, I think the movie was quite depressing, if it had been anymore confronting it would not have worked, laughter is important.

For me Sanju is an average movie at best from whatever scenes I came across online. Every scene was infused with annoying unfunny comedy that takes away from the seriousness of the situations.
The humour+drama combo worked like magic for 3 idiots and the munna Bhai series. It's with PK, like one member stated, that the predictability of Hirani's directing style started to become apparent.

Well, all of this ofcourse doesn't matter as long as Hirani's films are breaking records.
